Another MT3 recolor without unique novelties or characteristics. Drop is churning these out by the dozens with absolutely no change in molds or kitting. No R5 for ortho makes no sense.

harlekein> Another MT3 recolor without unique novelties or characteristics. Per FAQ: • Optimal production: Utilize the MT3 tools (Susuwatari) to achieve optimal production scenario, with zero waste, no tool cleaning, minimum possible manufacturing time. Calling this a "MT3 recolor" is an incredibly unfair way to belittle the work I put in (and I understand that hard work != good looking product). If you wanna pull this card for Durock linears, go for it, but there's a lot of work to enable a project like this to happen versus e-mailing a Chinese representative from Durock and asking for a quote for 20,000 Pantone Avocado switches. If these crazy colors and nice kit pricing aren't unique characteristics for you, the project is not for you to be honest. > Drop is churning these out by the dozens (...) Drop is making projects such as Camillo, Jukebox of course BoW and WoB for the fans of those colorways, with fast delivery, how can they possibly be in the wrong? You complain about lack of availably of MT3 keycap sets, Drop proceeds to make new sets in MT3, and then somehow they get criticized for doing that? We do not live in a perfect world, where manufacturing changes can happen overnight. Just impossible to please this community, no wonder why many gave up. > with absolutely no change in molds (...) I'm not blaming you but I don't think you comprehend how costly it is to alter MT3 molds. We are talking about several thousands of dollars worth of investment, do not assume this is similar to how other manufacturers work, especially since they already had decades of work and millions of dollars put in to amortize costs. > (absolutely no change in) kitting. You're completely wrong here as this set brings unique kitting. We have a $85 Base Kit and lots of kit optimizations when you rationalize manufacturing cost versus final price versus coverage. > No R5 for ortho makes no sense. R5 for Ortho do not exist in MT3 double shot my friend, that row only exists in PBT which is a different production line, with entirely different molds and tools... You can see MT3 Susu and MT3 3277 for example. That's on Matt3o for designing MT3 double shot molds in R4 and this can't be ever changed (and for the record I too would had preferred R5). No hard feelings at all @harlekein - just explaining to you why things are what they are! I know you are a great participant of the community, and wanted to provide you with some background insights.

MiTo> R5 for Ortho do not exist in MT3 double shot my friend Sorry, but that's not true. MT3 Susuwatari had R5 for ergo mod kit, and those are all the molds needed to suit ortho R5. You are right, I don't understand how expensive it is to create molds. And I was looking forward to more MT3 colorways. I'm just disapointed they have no unique characteristics. The legends and font is not great, and I'd love to see something like Micons become available here. I like your work most of the time, and I understand you are working with restrictions. I just think these restrictions are detering from what could have been a much more unique and attractive kit. But Drop has found its market and is making keycaps available. It's a good thing. I'll just accept it's not for me.

harlekeinI totally agree, looks like a lazy recolored MT3, and the novelties are taken from other MT3 set like Lost + Found. Pretty much a lame attempt to cash in on the cyperpunk theme.

HangNew novelties and molds can’t be made at this time, not sure you read the pin post.

You are wrong again, like I said MT3 R5 doubleshot for ORTHO does not exist. You are talking about ERGO, those keycaps are blanks and they belong to another tool. Look, I know what I’m talking about why keep challenging what I’m saying? I told that I prefer R5 myself, I would obviously have added it if it was possible. But it’s not, so please stop saying that it is, you are wrong. Again no hard feelings at all.

MiTo> That's on Matt3o for designing MT3 double shot molds in R4 and this can't be ever changed (and for the record I too would had preferred R5). I don't understand how the MT3 ABS tooling works, other than it seems quite inflexible. So you are saying R5 is never coming? The R4 keys can't just be swapped for R5, does it require entirely new tooling to be built for the all kits?

crescentsNever coming is probably a stretch, I hope it comes at some point in the future. But it is true, the tools are quite inflexible, which makes it very hard to accommodate small changes and additions. Unlike other tools from other profiles, an addition or removal of a single keycap comes with very big consequences.

MiToYou are right. You know much more about this than I do. I was under the impression that the cost of legend mold was significantly less than the cost of the key mold. Since the key molds exist in R5, but legends do not, I figured it would be a small step. I take your word for it that I was under the wrong impression. Being uninformed, and now more informed, does change my perspective, but it does not change my view on these MT3 sets. I wish they would have been more than Susuwatari recolors. Even if that's an ignorant wishing for the moon. I hope in the future you get more of a hand in designing legends and kits.
