I was really frustrated by all the delays and lack of updates on this set but the quality of this is good enough to justify the wait. I have a few ePBT sets and two Infinikey sets and this beats them in almost every way. No competition!! The bars are mostly flat, the legends are sharp and aligned(as far as I can tell), and the sound is deep.
Something to note, I've come to expect some texture on PBT sets and these are very smooth. That is not a bad thing, just not what I was expecting. They are tight on JWK stems, also not a bad thing just something to note. I have not noticed any issues yet.
EDIT: I've found that these show scratches easier than ePBT. I think it is because it lacks the typical textured surface most PBT sets have, so maybe don't store these in bags.
I wanted a white keyset because I made a white keyboard that is pretty and this keyset fits the bill exactly. The captions on the alphas are big and bold and make the the whole keyboard stand out. Even the alternative captions stand out which is rare in a keyset. Usually the secondary characters an afterthought and the Roman characters are more highlighted. The white looks really good with my board and the blue highlights make what would be a plain keyset stand out.
I run Linux, so I don’t care to look at a Windows logo on my keyboard. This keyset comes with an optional novelties kit that has alternative pictures to go where the Windows key would go. I also could have opted to use the Code or Fn keys instead. The kit came with plenty of options, so I decided to populate a macropad as well as my keyboard.
The only downside to the set is the caps lock key. I use a 60% and commonly use a tilde character, so I map the escape key to the Caps Lock. I found the Lock key which is just different enough from a common Caps Lock key.
I did take the opportunity to write a QMK keymap to actually be able to type the Greek keys. I use a similar naming scheme on my servers to the astrological novelty keys so I set the macropad to ssh to the appropriate server.
It’s a really pretty set for a really pretty board and the two were perfectly paired.
The dye sub on the yellow caps are kinda blurry, I have attached a comparison of HK Gaming's knock off Pegaso compared the MiTo's. HK's is a lot clearer.
Wished the yellow accent keys came with base kit. I had to spend $35 extra just to get the yellow accent keys...
Other:
The caps are really tight and whenever I have to pull the keycap off, it pulls off the switch on my hotswap board. Not sure if people like/want it this tight.
The caps are really really smooth. I normally expect PBT caps to have more texture (which I like) but some might like having a super smooth texture.
cowsareholyHey thanks, I also have the HK gaming set and if you don't mind I have a few questions to compare the two. Are the alphas somewhat lighter on Mito Pegaso than HK? You mentioned they feel soft, is it about similar? I really wanna pick up this set for my prime_e since those HK sets have no compat lmao. Thanks!
KokalooThe colors of the modifiers for both are basically the same color. The alphas on the HK is gray while the Drop one is a lot more white. The difference is HUGE. I personally would never opt for the HK version as the gray alphas are pretty ugly imo. The Drop versions looks like the renders.
As for smoothness, the HKs have a slightly rougher texture
These pbt keycaps have a very smooth texture to them. If you don't like a smooth pbt keycap, then look elsewhere. These are smooth without being too slippery. I have tried other pbt keycaps that were smooth as well, but were very slippery, unlike these. They produce a very pleasing thocky sound when paired with my Boba U4T's. I got them with the novelties and have perfect support for a Angry Miao Cyberboard, which is what I put these keycaps on. You really can't complain about these keycaps. You can see some shine through from the LEDs under the keycaps but that is usually the case with lighter colored keycaps. At their price point, they are a high quality pbt keycap set that look really nice.
Keyboard: Angry Miao Xmas Edition Cyberboard
I've used this keycap set (plus novelties & numpad) heavily for nearly a year on my Ducky One 2 "Too Good in Blue":
-The colours complement it beautifully
-Manufacturing is top-notch, with smooth corners, even smoother keycap tops, distinct and sharp index marks, and near-perfect consistency of colours
-Zero yellowing, even though the keyboard has been in direct sunlight for 2-3 hours daily on average
It's hard to convey how premium and smooth the keycap tops feel - almost velvety and absolutely flush with the bold indexes. My favourite keycaps in my small collection of both vintage & modern sets.
Love the colors in both the base and mitocorn edition. The plastic feels quite nice. It feels like my old EPBT set. The new ones in the past few years have felt lighter/less dense. This set recaptures high quality PBT. High density, smooth, satin finish. Love it.
a negative: the steppes caps lock is made wrong. It’s not flush with the left edge. /sadge
Pretty looking caps made with quality materials. They are shorter than I what was used to in terms of cherry profile, so that's something to be aware of when buying. The PBT is nice and smooth, but on my set there were some keys on row two that had more of a rough texture. Not really sure what that was all about. All in all, they're nice keycaps and I don't regret buying them.
I am glad they took the time to ensure the quality. It is one of the most amazing PBT Cherry Profile Keycap set that I have used (I have experimented with quite a lot).
These keycaps are on the smoother end of PBT keycaps. They're a little bit less smooth than the artifact series, which I prefer. They're also less tight making it easier to pull out the keycaps. My spacebars are straight and has no warping compare to EPBT spacebars, who expect you to fix it.
Only flaw is the gold yellow that doesn't look to my expectations. Overalls I would buy this again if possible. I regret not buying the mitocorn kit.
