ptron3030I noticed this was happening to my pads as well - specifically the lower portion. This was my second pair of Ethers and my original set (open back) included a closed cell foam spacer block which sat in the ear holes of the pads and rested against the driver baffles. That way the pads aren't actually pushing against each other. After making a block for these the pads returned to their original uncompressed form overnight (I think they're memory foam). Here is a link to the foam I used to make the block: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B075GZ3JHS/And here's a picture of the foam block in my headphones (you can see it between the pads).
gtb75smart..I think my pads are compressed beyond repair already though, really wish I could replace them or open them up and stick some padding in there
ptron3030The bottom of my pads were pretty compressed - they came back to their original form fine (mostly after the first day with the spacer block). Not sure why they didn't include one with the CX like their other headphones, but it's an easy and cheap addition. The block I cut is about 2 and 1/8 inches long by about 1 and 1/2 inches wide - and is the thickness of the foam sheet.
BTW, that picture is right after I took them off after listening for a while. Right out of the case in the morning the pads are fully uncompressed.
