I just got my pair today. I noticed that the earpads were not applied evenly. The right one appears to be rotated slightly. The seam on the left earpad more-or-less lines up with the top of the hinge pin from the gimbal, and when viewing the pad, the cable jack lines up with the centre of the rectangular ear-hole.
The right earpad seam is another centimetre or so higher than the hinge pin, and the cable jack lines up with the bottom rear corner of the ear-hole. It's been rotated compared to the left one.
This doesn't seem like it would be correct, but if you look at the official pictures on Drop, picture #3 shows the same misalignment of the pad seams. I would not be concerned if the ear hole was circular, but with a rectangular one, the right ear feels a bit odd.
Are the earpads glued on? Is it easy to remove and reset the placement of the pads?
They shouldn't be glued if they are like all other Ethers (except the new Ether 2). Check out the following video: https://youtu.be/3jq2FUDvH6g
You can probably rotate them without removing them, but just partially pull them off if necessary. I have swapped pads on my open Ethers with no problems over the years.
