The keycaps are not bad, but tbf their quality is not exactly great.
Firstly they came in a funny plastic keycaps container, which is possibly the cheapest out there. For reference - Akko keycaps that are usually half the price come in proper case and their unboxing experience is 10x better.
Secondly, their plastic is unconsistent and it has some marks on some parts of the keys. That never happened to me (Aliexpress sets, sets that come with prebuilds etc.)
Looks nice, though be careful of the bars when going ortho
Great quality as usual for all the MT3 sets. However, this set gives you a concave spacebar with the ortho set and then the bars set includes a single convex spacebar. So I don't really see the point. Every other bar kit on this website includes 2 2u keys unless the original ortho kit included a convex 2u bar. So now I have one concave and one convex bar. Not particularly useful. We used to get so many more bars in the bar kit for the same price. What happened? And why isn't convex standard on all ortho kits? It's like nobody actually thinks this stuff through before putting it into production.
For those who enjoy or are interested in sculpted keycaps, the MT3 profile is a great option. In addition, the darkness color scheme is nice and minimal where the legends are less visible, while you still have the option to look at the legends with out them being overly prominent.
The Key to a Moodier Setup: Diving into MT3's Dark Side
The Drop MT3 Darkness Keycap Set epitomizes refined elegance, merging tactile sensation with aesthetic allure. Crafted from ABS plastic, its microdetailed texture elevates the typing experience, making each keystroke feel uniquely satisfying. The milky-black keycaps, juxtaposed with the subtler dark-gray legends, elevate even the most mundane typing tasks to something truly epic. While its black on black colorway is classic and timeless, the set also intriguingly contrasts with MT3 WOB, hinting at potential creative pairings. The sculpted MT3 profile, reminiscent of vintage beamspring terminals, lends an added layer of distinction. Drop has truly outdone themselves with this design—proving that sometimes, darkness can be the most illuminating choice for keyboard enthusiasts.
Should look pretty slick on my black build. I can touch-type and sometimes use blanks or fantasy languages (Elvish, Dwarvish, Runes) on my boards, so legibility isn’t an issue for me. But if you rely on reading your legends to know where you are, you might have some trouble with this set.
These are great for people who mostly don't look at the keyboard but need an occasional visual cue. I find them to be the perfect companion to my black Planck, and they are probably my favourite MT3 kit right now.
Great set all around, solid packaging and a great base kit (albeit would like to see the R2 up arrow and at least one extra R0 cap in the base kit instead of just in Extras). Like another reviewer mentioned the base color is more of a dark grey than pure black like WoB, but looks quite nice and adds some subtle contrast against a black case.
