Great little budget amp... Better options nowadays
Really great budget headphone amp. Solid construction. Can't really recommend this in 2024 onwards since there are far better options (These are a very old design) I would suggest the Atom from JDLabs or the Magni Unity with a built in DAC. Very good amp though, sounds great and can drive almost any headphones
I connected the amp directly to the stereo outs on a Denon DCM-380 CD change and it works extremely well. It drives my ATH-A900 headphones effortlessly. At low gain, I only have to turn the volume up to the 8-o-clock position to get at a high volume that is still comfortable to my hearing. Beware: this amp (when paired with a good DAC like the one on the Denon) will highlight all details of your music collection, even the flaws in the final mix and master.
I used this for 4 years and it worked fantastically. No complaints at all. I just needed to be careful because my Senheisser HD600 cord would get snagged and tug on it. It made the jack loose but overall it still works great.
I mean, they've could've just added a free one, was so happy when I got it and then couldn't use because I was missing an RCA into JACK cable to use on my PC. Quality wise it's good. Don't know if it's just mine but I do hear a pop noise from time to time.
Overall i would say this was a good amp it lasted as long as my hd 6xx headphones did about 2-3 years. I do have positive and negative experiences with this amp due to the loud popping noise it would emit. Never could figure out what the problem was. I also felt like i was cleaning corrosion off of my battery terminals on every 9v swap. But I give it 3 stars still because it was a good amp when it worked producing a quality audiophile for my Sennheiser hd6xx's. I would not be able to recommend this product because of only having owned 1 of these and my experience based off reviews I've read may have been a fluke.
These supply more than enough power for my cans, however I do not recommend buying these at $95 as I believe there are better alternatives at similar prices such as the Atom amp. However I bought these on sale for around $50 and at that price these are a steal.
