Dear fellow enthusiasts,
today I am bringing you an update regarding GMK Oblivion V2 that we ran this Summer. GMK has finished production and sent me a couple units for quality control. In terms of colors, everything came out great. The set looks as you'd expect from seeing the renders and the previous round of it. However I quickly noticed that on some of the new Git keys, the text legends were not quite in line with the rest as they have a higher margin towards the edge of the key. I took this discovery to GMK, and after some discussion with Drop we are now working on a fix for the affected sets. This means that all kits except the Git Base Kit are currently en route to Drop's warehouse in New Jersey, while the Git Base Kits remain in Germany for about two more weeks. All orders that did not include a Git Base Kit can therefor be fulfilled upon arrival, while the remaining orders will have to wait a bit more. Below you will see the keys that I have requested to be replaced:

I know that this delay is not ideal, and some Christmas gifts will not make it in time, however you paid for a premium product, and we want to make sure that you will receive one in the end.
Please accept my sincere apologies, I will continue work on these keyset projects and do my best to prevent future mishaps.

PS: I still need to improve my photo skills, please consider that these images were taken by a DSLR amateur, so colors are not represented perfectly. They are however superb in real life, I can assure you that!
OblotzkyHey all,
Like @Oblotzky said, this is a bit unexpected and we discovered the issue at the eleventh hour. Our operations team are now working with GMK and @Oblotzky to get the fixes where they need to be and also get everyone else's sets moving.
With the holiday logistics logjam - it will take us a little time to get updated estimates out on shipping. I expect to get another update out to everyone on Friday. Fingers crossed it's to let those unaffected know their keycap sets are on their way!
Thank you all for your patience and we'll keep you updated.
OblotzkyJust to specify, it's not a "higher" margin... it's indented more to the right on some of them... The outline in blue sort of makes the key shape look different, so the extra indention wasn't as noticable at first.
Free Monochrome mod set for all of us affected? ;)
OblotzkyThanks for the update, thanks for catching that, and thanks for getting it fixed. From the pictures, it looks like the "Hello, World!" key might also be affected.
OblotzkyWell definitely not the news I was looking to find when I clicked on here for an update, but glad you caught it! The keys with the wrong margin do look really out of place with the rest & I would not have been happy with that as a finished product either. Like others have said, it looks like the "Hello, World!" is affected by the issue as well. Thanks for the update!
WXYddI imagine not, due to the cost of shipping two separate packages as opposed to one. It might be possible if drop could find a way to bill you for the extra shipping, but I can't imagine them taking the time and effort to do so. I suppose they could ship the two packages at cost to them, but I see that as just as unlikely.
YanboWuHas there been any decision made over the regular non-Git sets? Will they ship with the "Hello World!" Enter key as it is now or will they also be delayed until the keycap is re-made?
EST4RIt has been confirmed on geekhack:
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=101034.msg2840642#msg2840642
"We are also working with GMK for a replacement "Hello, World!" key, as it appears to be problematic as well. As that is a single key, we may opt to ship out replacements separately (pending a decision from our operations team)."
But there are literally pictures of the final product at the top of this thread where you can see it has the wrong alignment:
"Hello World" is just below the "Commit" key that is highlighted as wrong and it aligns with it rather than with "Return" that is two positions above. Also can see that it is not aligned with the short "Shift" below it. And there are pictures with it on a board then below those there are pictures with the regular "Return" where you can also see that it is misaligned.
Why wasn't this posted here or why wasn't there an e-mail, I have no idea.
Unfortunately no. There was an initiative from Drop to send items from EU (Headphones only at first), but it was never used for Keycap sets and was now shut down in December. The entire order was first sent to their warehouse in New Jersey and then split up there to be sent to the individual customers.
rushhhThe Git legends and the Hello World were newly created for this set, legend plates didn't exist for them yet. They were re-made for the correction.
