Hey everyone, GMK Oblivion is the keycap of the month for June! This programming-inspired keycap set is available in three different base kits from the colorful Git and Regular Base Kits to the blue accented Monochrome Base Kit. This keycap set was originally available here in SA profile - this time it will be produced by GMK in Germany using original Cherry tools. One of the biggest draws of the Oblivion keycap sets are the modifier options -- in many ways the modifiers are the novelties you’d find in other keycap sets. With the addition of the Hagoromo alphas colorway, this keycap will look right at home on many keyboards. Some process-related notes -- if you have an active order that hasn't completed yet and you want to make any adjustments to it, please just cancel the order on your transaction page and re-order with your desired kits. This will ensure there are no payment errors when the run ends. Thank you everyone for your support!

Would make a lot of sense. I also wondered this with the sennheiser headsets, they are produced in eu as well and send to the US to be mailed back to the EU.

YanboWuCan we get some renders of these on Massdrop boards? Love how these caps look but would be great to see how they look on your boards.
Dear fellow enthusiasts, today I am bringing you an update regarding GMK Oblivion V2 that we ran this Summer. GMK has finished production and sent me a couple units for quality control. In terms of colors, everything came out great. The set looks as you'd expect from seeing the renders and the previous round of it. However I quickly noticed that on some of the new Git keys, the text legends were not quite in line with the rest as they have a higher margin towards the edge of the key. I took this discovery to GMK, and after some discussion with Drop we are now working on a fix for the affected sets. This means that all kits except the Git Base Kit are currently en route to Drop's warehouse in New Jersey, while the Git Base Kits remain in Germany for about two more weeks. All orders that did not include a Git Base Kit can therefor be fulfilled upon arrival, while the remaining orders will have to wait a bit more. Below you will see the keys that I have requested to be replaced:

I know that this delay is not ideal, and some Christmas gifts will not make it in time, however you paid for a premium product, and we want to make sure that you will receive one in the end. Please accept my sincere apologies, I will continue work on these keyset projects and do my best to prevent future mishaps. - Oblotzky TX-CP with GMK Oblivion V2 Git Base Kit

PS: I still need to improve my photo skills, please consider that these images were taken by a DSLR amateur, so colors are not represented perfectly. They are however superb in real life, I can assure you that!

Oblotzkywhen there will be another round of these OBLOTZKY GMK OBLIVION,really love these but nowhere to buy again.
Hey all, Held back an update last week until we got more information on the upcoming fulfillment. ALL KITS MINUS GIT BASE KIT
  • The bulk of the GMK Oblivion shipment minus GIT Base Kit has been picked up last week from Germany. We expect it to land at our warehouse at the end of this week.
  • We expect the start fulfilling the week of December 16 - it will likely take all week to get all tracking out to everyone.
  • For those that purchased the Regular Base Kit. We will be sending you a separate Hello, World! novelty keycap in a separate shipment in Q1 2020 after all the replacements are completed. The added ship time on that is to account for new resin mixes and manufacturing.

GIT BASE KIT
  • The fix keycaps are been produced this week at GMK. We expect to pickup the shipment by the end of this week.
  • We will need one week of transportation time to account for pickup from Germany and receiving by our warehouse.
  • Fulfillment should start for the Git Base Kit the week of December 23. We will work to get these fulfilled before the end of the year.
Appreciate everyone for their patience, the wait is almost over. UPDATE on 12/17: Due to a shortage of material, the Hello, World! keycap will be produced at a later time when GMK receives more resin. Those are estimated to ship out to customers late January or early February. This affects both the Regular Base Kit as well as the Git Base Kit, so Git Base Kit purchasers, please do not be alarmed when you find your misaligned Hello, World! keycap - you will get a replacement as well. To be clear, you will receive a replacement Hello, World! keycap for each Regular Base Kit or Git Base Kit you purchased. For instance, if you bought one of each, you will get two replacement keycaps. Bought two Git Base? You'll get two replacement keycaps. One Regular? One replacement.

It's not my intention to feed the drama. I'm very patient with the GBs I'm involved with (as a costumer). I like the set so much, and I will have it in the future for sure, not in GB phase cos I cancelled my order due to the delay and I bought metropolis instead. GMK is undoutbtedly one of the serious companies in the sector but I'm not trying to cover their mess up. What I'm trying to explain is that Drop is the only one that sold me the keycaps, not GMK nor Oblotzky. If I have to complain to anyone will be to the one that sold me the set. The problems that Drop has with their providers are not mine are theirs. As always, imho my friends

Hey there! Welcome to the second group buy for GMK Oblivion, I'm very happy to bring it back after such a long time. The demand has grown a lot since its initial sale in 2017, so not only is it returning, but I also expanded it to offer the beloved Git Modifier that I first introduced in SA Oblivion, and also have added coverage for non-QWERTY layouts and various European ones that weren't available previously. As such, I've dubbed this run V2. Before I get to some more in depth information on decisions and changes for this group buy, let me first give you a small history lesson about the Oblivion Keyset project: I originally mocked up this colorway back in October 2016. It quickly gained a lot of interest by the community, and was made available at first in Cherry profile (produced by GMK) in the Summer of 2017 on KeyClack's store, and in Fall of the same year as Signature Plastics SA profile through (then) Massdrop. Both versions came out great and have since been a favorite in the community, for which I am very grateful. For the SA version, I was able to be more creative as I had less restrictions at the time, so I created legends based on Git commands and x86 Assembly instructions. Both of these stem from the overall theme of this keyset: programming. Git is a piece of software developed by Linus Torvalds (you may know his other creation, the Linux operating system) that is used to track code changes and also to back it up easily. Many, if not most, programmers use it in their daily life as developers. The x86 Assembly instructions are closer to the hardware, it is one level above the 1's and 0's that run through the processor and allows humans to write complex software for computers. I chose these legends to be used on the Ergodox/Ortholinear and 40% layouts, as users of those keyboards assign functionality to the keys very differently, and as such having regular legends would either require many duplicate keys, or result in having wrong legends on many keys. Now, for this more expanded GMK version of the set, I can bring these fancy legends to Cherry profile as well. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! What is the inspiration behind the Hagoromo Alphas? This video says it all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhNUjg9X4g8 I hope this sheds some light on this keyset project! If you have any questions or so, please don't hesitate to comment and I'll make sure to get back to you ASAP with an answer. Now, for some FAQ:
  • Did any of the colors change? Which other sets are they similar to?
For the first round, I had GMK color match 6 ABS colors from Signature Plastics. This time, I will be adding one more, the beige legend color. Previously, this was simply the L9 standard color from GMK, but for V2, I will have them match GAL from Signature Plastics to give it a bit more of the beige that I love about the SA version of this set. The rest will remain the same as before. The dark gray modifier base color is the same as GMK Carbon's, both are based on SP's GQM color code. The gray alphas are also the same as GMK Space Cadet for the base color, the legend color is different though (Space Cadet being more creamy white and Oblivion being beige). This will leave the only GMK standard color being CP for the Hagoromo Alphas, everything else is custom.
  • Why the hell are there 4 different Base Kits?
Due to GMK's production and sorting workflow being best suited for high volume production of Base Kits, I've opted to have three standard Base Kits with the three different Modifier Types, and the fourth Assembly Base Kit for Ergo/Ortho/40% layouts. Now this will of course mean we won't have as many exciting price breaks on a single Base Kit like other sets have had (e.g. GMK Laser dropping by 10$ for each time it hit 250/500/1000 and 1500 units) as buyers are more spread out, but on the upside we don't have to see our shopping cart already breaking 200$ when we just wanted to buy the Base Kit with Git or Monochrome Modifiers as an addon kit. The 500 price break for the Base Kits are still very exciting though, giving us 20$ off for Git and 15$ off for Regular and Monochrome, and I think those are realistic to achieve. All in all, I believe that this approach will give the best pricing to the majority of participants, while other kit structures that I explored mostly benefited a smaller portion of people.
  • What does the 'c' stand for in some of the key sizes shown in the kits?
Keys labeled with this letter are convex in shape, which is the shape of a spacebar. The 1.25u and 1.75u keys in the Spacekeys kit are not labeled as such as GMK does not have convex molds for these key sizes at this time.
  • You revealed a RAMA Git Artisan key during the interest check, where is it?

It is now available for ONE WEEK from June 11th till June 19th over here: https://drop.com/buy/rama-works-x-oblivion-artisan-keycaps?mode=guest_open I will expand this FAQ over time.

Possibly. Good thing about 2u or 1u shift layouts is the option to fit arrows in a 60% layout quite nicely. It's a popular layout so I wouldn't expect creators to be policing what they do or don't find "abominations" - I would expect them to try and support as many layouts as possible while keeping costs within reason.

I emailed support and they said they’re expecting them to arrive at their warehouse on 11-28. So we probably won’t see tracking until the first week of December at the earliest. My assumption... they didn’t say that.

Sure thing, things happen and production takes time. This is not Drop’s first rodeo, they should have a better idea. Even if they cannot assess with confidence, transparency and communication (no promises required) would go a very long way with the community.

Do we have a ship date yet? Or is it still sometime at the end of November.
Could not agree more. By and large the keyboard community is an incredibly patient group. One of the only things that we ask for is updates to let us know where everything is at. Even knowing that, we still get very few updates. Pls just let us know what's going on MD!

Exactly. When a ship date is given and the missed. I kind of expect weekly updates. Even if it’s “they are still finishing manufacturing and estimate is X number of weeks” and they sent that for 4 weeks. I’m fine. It’s when they go silent until enough people shit on the discussion board they sneak a single email with a new expected date. And then they miss that and nothing is said again. It’s horribly disrespectful.
Hey all, Quick update on fulfillment. The keycaps were picked up from GMK this week in Germany. We will get it into our warehouse and prioritize getting it out to everyone. Due to the shortened Thanksgiving week it will most likely be December before everything is packed and shipped. We will update again once we have a ship date.
I've asked our community support to reach out to you and help with the refund.
