UPDATE 04/05/2018 (aka 05.04.2018)
We have production pictures! I've not spotted any errors in these, so I am confident in sharing them with you. It looks to be around 30% finished, and I'll get another update towards the end. Everything appears to be on track for the scheduled delivery by June 19th!

UPDATE 09/22/2017 (aka 22.09.2017)
Drop concluded! Thanks so much to everyone that participated in this group buy! Seeing all these numbers roll in after so many hours spent on creating this set is a wonderful sight. I'm so happy that we had this much success! Now begins the last part of this epic journey, the long wait. Hang in tight :)
UPDATE 09/18/2017 (aka 18.09.2017)
Bossman has given green light that all kits (yes, all!) are being made as long as people don't jump ship! So keep your orders in, or join if you haven't and our dream will be made true! https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-oblotzky-sa-oblivion-custom-keycap-set/talk/1817455
Hello and welcome fellow enthusiast!
I am here to guide you through what has been my pet project for the last 11 months. Back in October of last year, I started designing this keycap set as I wanted something on my keyboard that reflected my trade: Programming. You will find many influences of that profession in this set, but for those of you unfamiliar with it, I'd like to give you a short introduction to it.
First of all, lets talk colors. To make code more readable for humans, key words in it are highlighted with different colors. Just like in school when you were tasked to write nouns, verbs, adjectives and so on in different colors so you could better understand how sentences are constructed (at least we did that here in Germany). These colors are often carefully selected by designers and make up a 'color theme', one of which is called Oblivion. I've translated these colors over to this keyset in the same manner as it was done for the Penumbra keyset before. A solid dark shade of gray serves as the background for these beautiful colors, a visually stunning combination.
To expand on that theme, I created a second set of Modifiers called 'Git'. Git, developed by Linus Torvalds who also created the Linux operating system, is known among all modern programmers. It is a version control software that is used to keep track of code changes and also to back up code and other files on servers and the cloud. This software has many commands for various purposes, and simply acts as novelty text in this keyset.
Furthermore, there are some kits in this set that contain seemingly strange text such as XOR, RET, JMP, MOV and so on. These are instructions for Assembly, a very low level programming language. It is basically one level above punching ones and zeros into a computer, very fancy stuff. They serve as abstract legends, as they are used on keyboards where almost every user is using a different layout. Providing regular legends such as Shift and Tab for them would often lead to incorrect labeling, but with Assembly instructions, it remains neutral.
The Monochrome keys have very little to do with programming. I added those as an alternative for people that don't like colors on their sets as much, but still appreciate the selection of gray tones of this set. With a few accent keys, they allow you to build some nice vintage looking keyboards.
I hope this shines some light on the background of this keycap set.
Lastly, here is a handy sheet where you can check what kits are required to cover your layout, please feel free to suggest which I could add to the list!

If you have any question, please don't hesitate to ask! I am here from start to finish and beyond to answer anything that might be on your mind :)
I hope you will enjoy the ride as much as I!
I SERIOUSLY dislike having to resort to this level of rudeness, but @Kevin can you please do your job and provide an update on this? I'm a year into waiting on Godspeed, and this is purportedly shipping in two weeks. Will we be waiting until months after that deadline before you inform us there will be a delay, or can you please update both here and on your order updates thread?
Ah ok well sorry about that mate. Whilst it must suck that you missed out you really can't say there wasn't enough time, since the group buy ran for like 3 weeks and I'm sure the sets have been locked in for weeks before that on oblotzkys site.
OblotzkyI realized I needed an Arrows kit for my planck, so I like the "extended by 24 hours" option. It might add on another day to the Signature Plastics wait time, but I'm willing to make the sacrifice.
Hey guys, sorry about the lack of updates on the spreadsheet. However I can at least give you some numbers from our Asian proxy for the kits so you can have a better picture of those that are having a bit of a tough time:
Oblivion Alphas 43
Hagoromo Alphas 23
Oblivion Modifiers 27
Git Modifiers 15
Monochrome Modifieres 19
Oblivion Numpad 13
Hagoromo Numpad 15
Oblivion Extension 20
Git Extension 7
Monochrome Extension 11
Minila 12
Assembly 7
40bit 7
ErgoDox 2
Oblivion Colevrak 3
Hagoromo Colevrak 5
Oblivion and Git UK 3
Monochrome UK 1
Oblivion NorDe 5
Hagoromo NorDe 3
Alternate Function Colors 13
tenkeyless.asm 3
macros.asm 3
Arrows 22
GD and WFK Spacekeys 5
GQM Spacebars & -keys 3
Oblivion OSX 3
Monochrome OSX 1
Communities 23
Oblivion LED 5
I'm confident that if we keep pushing, we can have all those made :) We should have a lot of numbers increase on Monday with a sheet update (about 500 kits sold or so since the last update?) and the Asian proxy will put in their order here on Massdrop within the last 48 hours or so as usual, and there will surely be a good chunk of people still waiting for the drop to come to an end before joining in. We're almost there!
OblotzkyI understand how the Asian proxy orders help to meet MOQ, but do you know if they always influence the final kit prices?
I ask because MD doesn't always share their spreadsheets with final order quantities after the keycap drops close. For example, the MD x Zambumon GMK Nautilus drop's spreadsheet was last updated 22 hours before the drop ended, and that did not include Asian proxy orders.
jonjonguitar9Thanks! I went all out and labeled everything that isn't 1u. I didn't want to leave anything to assumptions, even the most obvious ones :) There will always be someone new to the hobby who might try and want to figure something out!
See answers by @Forral and @Hamel.
I believe GMK, who make Cherry keycaps from original molds, doesn't make PBT keycaps (correct me if I'm wrong). One should also take into consideration the thickness of the keycaps. GMK and SP both make thicker ABS keycaps than some of the PBT ones. According to SP, double-shot PBT is also technically very difficult, but something they're working on.
SA stands for "Spherical All rows" instead of cylindrical like most vanilla keycaps seem to be. It refers to the shape of the face of the key, you can't really see it from the profile image linked in this thread.
I just joined this drop. My first ever on massdrop.
I'm a bit worried about the long wait time.
Is there a possibility that these will be delivered sooner? or is this something I'll just have to forget about till next summer and when it arrives at my doorstep it'll be like christmas in the summer.
@pepsiplease69 That was genius to make use of the tester kit! I'm still too new to this, but I'm debating how far I drop into this rabbit hole, as it's an expensive hobby lol.
was just about to order but hell no, 45$ dollars for the main keys is okay but then the bombshell that is the modifiers for 95$? Holy, i don't know who is more delusional, drop with those prices or people who actually spend that amount of money for just the modifiers
Good ole SP fighting their SA backlog by increasing prices while still losing market share to MT3, KAT, and Maxkeys SA. The DSS and G20 profiles never caught on either... is SP doing ok?
