The failure to provide answers to my questions about HRC and the Cryo treatment leads me no alternative but to think about buying that new Cold Steel Kris. Of course, if you told me the the HRC was 58 and the cryo treatment was dry ice, that info would lead me to the same place.

14themoneyI was wondering the same about the steel hardness so I asked Quiet Carry by email, and while they didn't give details about their hardening process, they say it's at 60-61 HRC.

14themoneyProbably not a cure for long sharpening sessions though! But hopefully those shouldn't have to happen too often.

mdeousI really admire you for doing ESL. I took Spanish for a couple of years in high school and decided that it would be good for me to focus on English. I could tell that Spanish was fairly regular with understandable rules. Looking at English where you can spell eye and aye and have the sound the same, but neither has the letter "i" in it is just weird. And if you don't like spelling of the word fish, ghoti will serve just as well. If I call for my dog and say, "Come home", the vowel sounds are totally different. I love it when people like my jokes. My hat's off to you.

14themoneyThank you! I have the chance to have to speak English daily at work, and I have to admit this daily practice made a huge difference in my proficiency! And I love English, that's one of those languages where I feel like the way words sound does convey their meaning really well, I often can get more or less what an English word means even if I don't know it, just from the way it sounds. It is really super interesting to know about other people's vision about languages "oddities", as a French what I find amusing with English is that an English word can often have multiple meanings (like "dull" for instance ^^), whereas with French that's often the opposite, we have a myriad of different words to express a single thing. But that's also what I love about French and I guess that's one of the things that make it so hard to learn for foreigners, there are so many words to say a thing, and most of them bring a slight different nuance to your sentence, allowing you to either really express exactly what you meant, or sound like an idiot. (and to be honest, even most Frenchies can't speak French properly, so I won't blame foreigners having a hard time with it, haha!)

14themoneyIn case you (or anyone else) are interested, I just ordered one directly from QuietCarry (the black Ti+CF version), and as they didn't have Elmax blades left, they offered me to replace it with a CPM20CV one, which I'm quite happy about. Thought I would share the info, as it might still be possible to get a 20CV one! (which to me feels like a nice upgrade, but I don't want to start a steels war, Elmax is great too! But having a blade steel different from the usual one makes it a bit more "exclusive", and 20CV is a really great steel)
