I've been carrying my Quiet Carry IQ knife for over a few weeks now and this is the best "gentleman's knife" I've ever used. This knife is understated, meaning, it won't scare coworkers or people sitting at dinner with you when you use the knife. The IQ is made from top notch materials, ELMAX blade steel, grade 5 titanium handle scales, caged ceramic bearings ect.. The blade is a modified sheepsfoot and is one of the best slicing knives I've ever used. The 3D machining on the show side of the knife provides excellent grip and control. The action is silky smooth and has a positive lockup. I own a CRKT EROS titanium that is a "gentleman's knife" with a price tag of over $200 usd and that knife falls leagues short of the Quiet Carry IQ. Great materials, excellent execution, with a well thought out design that functions perfectly. 👍👍

Gunnersmate2You've been carrying a prototype of this specific knife, huh? Interesting.

Gunnersmate2Also. Do they use a harden steel insert for the frame lock, instead of just the Ti frame?

DiustavisI don't have my micrometer with me so I'll get you the specific dimensions later. I can say this knife slices like no other. The grind on the blade is perfect. As far as the feel or ergonomics of the IQ; it feels good in the hand and with the 3D machining or knurling, on the show side of the handle, the knife is very controllable and has plenty of grip. The pocket clip is fantastic, the knife will stay put in slacks, bluejeans, shorts or swimming trunks. ( Quiet Carry's website might have the specific dimensions available for you.)

JaegerDIt has a hardened steel insert. The lockup is smooth and positive and with the thumb reliefs ground in the handle, releasing the lockbar is easy.

Gunnersmate2Ok, thanks again I havent seen a knife without that, but havent seen it specified on listings for the iQ. I figured theres a reason every Ti bodied knife has it

JaegerDAgreed, the IQ is the best gentleman's folder I've ever carried. The best part is: it doesn't scare people when I pull it out and use it. Second best is the ELMAX blade, titanium scales and the 3D machining that provides a positive grip.

Gunnersmate2I have the original Kickstarter version, from a few years back. I had forgotten I have it! Not sure what steel that version has, have to dig in and find it.

BobrazLooks like VG10. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/471996800/the-iq-titanium-and-carbon-fiber-everyday-carry-fl/description I guess they wanted to play it conservative with it being a Kickstarter project. I wonder if these knives still have that lifetime warranty that the Kickstarter specified... And what that actually entails

JaegerDWhat do you mean, conservative? Because of the steel?
JaegerD

Jul 9, 2020
BobrazYeah, like they were playing it a bit safer by using what I'd imagine is an easier steel to source and temper. Instead of taking a risk and using a more expensive steel. VG10 is just a tried and true good steel.

JaegerDThe mamba has VG10 and I have no issue with it at all.

JaegerDI assume you're correct. And also it was less expensive as a result, all attributes making a first knife release through Kickstarter more successful!
