Strap on some armor, unsheath your katana, and prepare to defend your desktop: GMK Red Samurai, the first keycap set from designer RedSuns, features a striking colorway evocative of a Japanese warrior’s armor. The fierce combination of red and dark gray with golden accents and legends will complement any keyboard, especially dark ones Read More
Please be reminded to check your keyboard layout with the keycaps provided in the kit!
Notably the bottom row includes 1.25U Alt and Fn keys - if your keyboard's layout requires 1U Alt, Fn, etc. (NK65 peeps I'm looking at you), you will need to substitute them or use a different profile keycaps in its place.
Otherwise, this is a great start to your GMK journey:-
Good price - kit involves lesser keys than a typical set, so make sure you have all the keys you will need!
No long wait time - in-stock most of the time with no Group Buy involved
Using these in conjunction with drop invyr holy pandas. Only thing left to do is find time to lube the switches and I’ll be perfectly content.
As for the caps, I’d rate them 4.5/5 with the only drawback being that they feel a little thin, if that makes sense. Definitely lack a weighty feel.
(NK65 BUYERS BEWARE) Looks and Feels Great, but...
The keycaps sound, look and feel great. I expect no less from a GMK set.
Let me cut to the chase:
If you are looking to purchase this set for a NK65 EE, or Alu, be aware that the bottom row does not support the 1U Alt, FN, and Control layout that the NK65 has. There are extra keycaps in the set that you can use to fill in the row but it leave the set looking out of place.
Now, if those things don't bother you, ie: having to use the extra J, F, Novelty, or Escape buttons on your bottom row than this is the set for you. I purchased this set for my Cartridge Gold NK65 EE as my first custom build. I couldn't be happier with the way that it sounds on my creams, or how well it goes with the gold. But, if the keyboard you are looking to buy this set for has a 1U Alt, FN, or RCTRL, please keep this review in mind. I will experiment with the extra caps and see what I can find that looks and works the best.
