I dont think HD8XX is worth more than 4 pairs of HD6XX
tfcheungThat is so true.... it is probably worth more than all the headphones to date. I have never heard sound stage as good as the HD800. This probably gonna be as good as those like that Sony R10 headphones that cost like 50k a pop or that HE1? This could be the one to rule them all.

vken27Soundstage is good but overall there are other headphones around the same price i think are just as good, if not better, such as the focal clears, hifiman ananda and the arya.

SpiderJerusalem2nd on that Ananda..the Clears detail retrieval is very very good..maybe has the edge over the HD 800 but at that point I think the source plays a part. Speaking on soundstage, I a-b tested my Stax 007a on a KGSSHV Carbon and the holographic staging and space were sooo good making the 800 sound diffused. Not a apples to apples comparison but then again there isn't anything out there quite like the HD 800. They stand out...above? definitely depends but they stand out for sure! So many flavors out there makes it a great hobby albeit a costly one.

SpiderJerusalemI had the Clears, Arya and HD 800s all in my possession at the same time to A-B test against the Ananda which I already owned. Long story short... I liked all 3... but still preferred the Ananda sound signature the most. Conclusion- The Ananda are the benchmark headphone under $1000... and the Clear, Arya and 800s while good are overpriced at that $1400 or so price range which is almost exactly DOUBLE the cost of the Ananda! Let your ears decide what you like... not the price tag of a headphone. btw... Amazon threatened to cancel my account after returning the other headphones. 😂 I've probably tested and returned over 25 headphones to Amazon over the last year or so. PS-Another headphone I tried was the closed back Denon AH D9200 directly bought from Denon. It was also a very good headphone... but no way worth $1700 after tax. The D9200, Arya, 800s and Clears should cost around $1100 tops

JTB888I agree the ananda are great and the best value headphone around. I think it could be argued the arya are technically better but subjectively i know many who prefer the ananda. The ananda are $999 aud, the arya $1999 aud, i agree it should be priced around $1500. In regards to their sonic qualities i think the clears should be priced around the same as the ananda but you pay more for focals because of the look, build and the case. As for the hd800s, i didn't think they sounded better than the anandas, hence i would agree they are priced to high. But with all things value is in the eye of the beholder, i was happy to pay for the clears because i value their classy design, same way i feel about my aeolus.
