Fantastic Sound! Better than my Sennheiser Game Ones
I'm new to audiophile and still dipping my toes in. I currently own the Sennheiser Game One mostly for gaming on my PS4, Switch, and PC. The PC38X seemed like a safe bet because the design is nearly identical to the Game One, and I like those already. I can say without a doubt that I prefer the PC38X sound by far. I don't have the vocabulary yet to fully describe the differences I'm hearing but I'll try talk about the biggest things I've noticed while gaming and listening to music. I was expecting more and better low-end sound. These deliver. Thuds, rumbles, bass instruments, etc. are all powerful and crisp. It's not overwhelming but makes up for what I felt was lacking in my Game Ones. When I'm listening to music and switching between headset the biggest thing I notice is clarity. Or maybe the right word would be transparency. I can better pick out each of the elements on the PC38X. One last observation: the high end is powerful but in its tinkle and sparkle sort of way. When people are speaking, the air and friction on "p" and "f" and "s" sounds is really clear. Things like the wind on rustling leaves, and the wash of droplets in rain storms are noticeably detailed and life-like sounding. I bought the PC38X hoping for a better sonic experience and so far it has been. A+ The build quality is great and similar to the Games Ones. I like the fabric earpads so far. They keep cool and the texture less abrasive than the velour. The velour felt somewhat scratchy and I ended up switching them out for leather on the Game Ones. The headband cushion redesign is great and doesn't press on the crown of my head. Clamping pressure is too high for my liking but I stretched them overnight and now they feel just fine. The yellow color (I've seen a lot of folks none too jazzed about it) is subtle. The mesh covering the ears is black and obscures the yellow quite a bit under normal room lighting. The mic is the only part that looks as yellow as the product photos do. That's all. Great headphones. Thank you, Drop.com!
