Just want to point out that when you're plugging the cable in the headset, you need to give it a really strong push. When you first insert it, it may feel like it's in, but that's just the first (of 3) contacts that have made contact and engaged. Give it a really strong push, you won't break it!
We've received multiple returned "faulty, dead on arrival" units and upon testing them, they all work fine once the cable is properly seated. There are numerous reviews/discussion posts below of people complaining about "very quiet audio, left channel doesn't work at all", etc. These are almost always solved with firmly inserting the cable.
Regardless, if you're not happy with the product or believe yours is defective, please contact customer support and they'll gladly refund or exchange it for you.
The DROP + Sennheiser PC38X Gaming Headset will soon be replaced by the Drop + EPOS PC38X Gaming Headset
What's with the new name? EPOS merged with Sennheiser's Gaming division a while back and has been slowly transitioning the brand to be purely EPOS. We're currently selling the remaining "Sennheiser branded PC38X" units, and will be introducing the "EPOS branded" ones to the site shortly.
Is there any difference between the products?
The EPOS PC38X and Sennheiser PC38X units have been, and will continue to be, made at the exact same production facility. The specification of the headphone is the same, except the branding will be different.
How long will the "OG" Sennheiser PC38X units be available for?
These are no longer being produced, and will be available until we've sold the remaining inventory. For a brief time, you will be able to purchase either the Sennheiser or EPOS branded version of the headset.
How are warranties handled?
The warranty remains unchanged. If your product is defective within the warranty period, we will replace it.
Doing some research on alternative DACs to pair with these. Eyeballing the SoundBlaster units (like the X4, G6, GC7) but some seem to not pair well on impedance. I believe the GC7 specifically lists compatibility with headphones 32ohm+. With this being 28ohm I was hoping someone could recommend which of these units (or better alternatives) would be best or if anyone has experience with them.
I bought at PC38x and it’s a wonderful headset! Feels premium but for some reason it won’t let me game chat? I can party chat just fine but when I enter a public game I can’t hear myself or anyone else talk,
The headphones wouldn't prevent that. Your windows have microphone settings that you can change. If you play on PC and use Steam then could check Steam settings as well. The headphones itself have mute function. If the microphone is flipped up then it's muted. If it's pulled down towards your mouth then it should work normally. You'll feel a click when pulling down and then you know the mic is on.
I have a question, are the PC38x supposed to be so quiet? I think my front panel connectors might be toast so I plugged them into my rear panel connector. But the PC38x are quiet and are classfied as speakers. Is there anything I can do to fix them.
Hi, I live in South East Asia. Is there any way to claim warranty from South East Asia if anything happens to my headphone? Do I need to send my headphone back to US?
If you're experiencing crosstalk (your friends can hear your ingame audio) or a static noise when you got games running, it's probably caused by your motherboard's audio jacks (or the GPU, couldn't test that).
Anyway, you probably need a DAC, in my case I got one with mic input and audio output, you do not need an AMP, if your audio is too quiet, give the cable a strong push into your headset and try updating your audio drivers.
So my PC38x arrived today. Upon plugging them into my MB and giving them an out of the box go…they are undesirably quiet, it’s actually quite disappointing. After turning the volume knob up on the side of the headset, again with no change, I immediately went into Realtek audio settings and tried turning everything up, again…no change. Is this how they are supposed to be? I have seen a lot of mixed reviews, some saying they are loud and some saying they are quiet. I can tell the audio is premium it’s just not loud enough to be immersive or for things like foot steps to be really clearly heard because the volume is so low.
Its not just you. I just got these and Im blown away with how quiet they are. Sure they are audible but like you said ... not immersive. I have a MSI B550 Gaming Pro Wifi and yes... EVERYTHING is pushed in lol. The headphones just are much quieter than my Hyper X Clouds were
Hi,
I have not been able to get the microphone on this headset to work. I have tried every available port on my pc, multiple installs/re installs of software, following the advice in this thread and many others about pushing in the connecting cables and still nothing.
The audio sounds great, but no matter what I try I cannot get the microphone to work. I have been trying to use a Creative Sound Blaster Play!3 as I wanted some post processing and my internal sound card is not the best but I have not been able to get the mic to work.
Any guidance would be much appreciated, Thanks.
