The keyboard is very hollow. Stab is the worst i have seen in price range >$100 kb. Only good thing is software, support multiple software and very easy to use.
Other than that, this kb is tasteless, nothing special about it. it doesnt sound good either due to hollow case. I have to do clay mod to improve the sound.
Sadly it completely stopped working after 3 months.
Sadly my keyboard stopped working out of nowhere.
The LEDs keep shining. I can change the colours with hotkeys ...however that's it. 3 computers don't recognize the keyboard and I can't seem to reset it nor put it in flash mode. Neither drop keyboard configurator nor toolbox recognise any keyboard .
Seems to be something wrong with the internal built.
Since I'm also in Europe this will be some tedious activity with return claims.
I bought the pre-built Polar version for $199.
Initial impressions
The packaging was good, but the delivery was a little slow.
Initial quality was very good. Everything was included and there were no flaws.
The DCX caps are also very good, although it came with just enough to fill the board. A few extras for accents or alternates for the function keys would have been a nice touch.
Stock, the board is quite ping-y and the unlubed panda x switches are kind of harsh, but I expected to mod it so that was ok.
The stabs were minimally lubed and sounded remarkably good. (I was going to switch them out, but decided not to because they were ok).
The overall styling is good—it really reminds me of a Pro with more bottom LEDs.
The look of the weight might not be for everyone. I’m not a big fan, but it’s underneath the board and doesn’t bother at all while I’m using it.
Mods
Overall, a few simple mods really improved the sound and feel. I was able dampen the ping and hollowness and get a warm, full tone without deadening it.
Lubing the switches helped immensely.
I applied the tape mod to the pcb.
Installed a foam set from Stupid Fish (including PE foam). I think the stock foam is ok, but I had never tried PE foam, so I wanted to see the difference. It’s not a really big difference, but if there’s a specific sound profile you want you could try it.
Added screw gaskets to both sides of the case screws.
Disassembled the stabs and lubed them properly.
Finally I took some of the foam from inside the keyboard box and cut some strips out to put around the weight on the inside of the case. This really helped the hollow tones.
Use
Easy to set up with Via. I added the few macros I regularly use. I didn’t do anything with the lighting as I usually just use the stock presets.
The sound and feel is even across the board. My only complaint about the caps is that the DCX space bar is pretty thin. I found another, thicker, white space bar in my collection and that sounds much better.
No issues after a few weeks of daily use.
Wrap around LEDs are a nice effect.
Personal preference: I like the Alu plate.
Personal preference: I got tired of the Panda X switches and changed them out with some Tecsee Ice Candies. It was fun to try some tactiles and they seemed like good switches, but I really like linears. It would have been nice if that was a purchase option.
Overall
It’s a nice board with switches and caps for under $200 if you’re willing to do a few mods. I think the Pro sounds and feels better out of the box (and overall), but it’s more expensive and you have to use Core for the setup rather than Via.
I’d buy it again and recommend it for the price (especially the black one for $150) to someone that wanted to do the mods.
The price went down dramatically (from 350 to 150), which is a fantastic deal! I'm happy I got the great deal. I like the drop version of the holy panda switch. The keycap itself also is very clean and GMK-like. The volume knob is another plus. Now the black version is not available anymore. I'm waiting for the white version to go down further... possibly around Thanksgiving??? :)
I bought two prebuilt keyboards in white and black. What can I say? I can't say it's a bad keyboard, but it's an average keyboard if you compare it to the likes of stock Zoom75 or QK75. Let's start with things I wish were better:
Stock alum plate is "pingy"(?) and doesn't do this keyboard justice. They should've went with PC instead.
Stock stabs are probably okay if you holy-mod them and then use a lot of lube, but I just went with TX AP 4's instead.
Stock Panda X's have pingy springs. No amount of lube helped me to solve this issue.
Replacement POM plates sound a lot better than stock alum plates, but not perfect. There's still no flex when pressing alpha keys.
The case thickness is not even close to keychron keyboards. It feels almost as if they used stamped metal sheets instead of cutting the part from a block of metal using a CNC machine. But on the brighter side the keyboards are lighter than keychron keyboards.
There are also some things I liked:
DCX Keycaps are good. Not GMK good, but still good.
The keyboard is relatively light.
To summarize: it's not bad if you invest your time and money into it, but you might as well just buy a luminkey75, zoom75, qk75, jris75 or even a Monsgeek M1 instead.
The keyboard has really good materials, it feels premium, and it is very satisfying to work on, but it really needs some mods to avoid some reverberations, especially in the space bar.
Its a good board. Solid weight and build. I can not for the life of me get the soft ware to work so the remapping of the keys hasnt worked out. Since I cant remap the keys its not my everyday board.
Yea I also pulled those panda switches out.
The keyboard has all of the features that I want in a premium keyboard for this price point. It is on the pricier side if you are looking into keyboards though. The tape mod which was included was a nice touch. Make sure to mod this in some ways as the including holy panda x switches are not good with out lubricant.
Great initial feel to the board as a pre-built but with a couple of the usual mods done to it (especially switching out the aluminum plate and stock switches), I'm sure it'll be able to sound like a dream. Nice touch to add the free tape mod in the box.
