Hey everyone,
Thank you so much for joining the run for the SHIFT High-Profile. We really appreciate your support for this project.
Unfortunately, we’re not seeing sufficient interest in the SHIFT High-Profile in order to move forward with production. We received a lot of constructive feedback in the discussion section, pushing us to take another look at what the community wants the SHIFT to be. We agree that features like 5pin switch support and improved stabilizers would make this a far more compelling offering. We’re going to revisit the design and specs of the keyboard and see what we can accommodate.
For those who’ve joined this run, your order will be canceled and you’ll receive a full refund on your method of payment in 2-7 business days. We’ve also issued a $20 credit to everyone who joined this run as a thank you for your support. This credit will apply automatically at checkout and expires a year from today.
Again, thank you for all of your support for this project. We look forward to introducing a new and improved SHIFT High-Profile at a later date.
I feel like bumping this again. I really, really like the particular layout of this 1800 but not having a high profile and 5-pin hot swap style killed it before it was ever made. Is Drop ever going to return to this keyboard?
masteraaron1I'm really hoping now that mech keyboards are becoming more popular, they will retry this. I love using a mech board at work, but I really need a num pad. I ended up getting the CTRL high profile and a separate num pad. I would definitely get a High profile SHIFT to use at work and move my CTRL to my gaming setup at home. Please DROP, try this again!
Probably the greatest 1800 layout board that never was. Why did you tease us like this?
I definitely won't be buying the low profile SHIFT, floating keys are dumb.
There are a few non-hotswap 1800 kits that all require soldering, and that you'd need to install your own LEDs into. The TKC1800 is back in stock now on TheKeyCompany, there's a group buy on Kbdfans for the Odin, and Kbdfans also sells the Kbd19x. CannonKeys has a new stacked acrylic 1800 kit that's under $90.
CannonKey's Rekt is pretty expensive, but comes back into stock periodically. KPRepublic has the Punchy, which is also pricey, and not currently being sold. There's an ongoing interest check on Geekhack for a model called the Boston, which is an 1800 that would have double function key rows.
The 96% layout has almost as many keys, they're just crammed tighter together than the keyboards listed above. If you can live with that, AliExpress usually has the parts to build a Melody96 with underglow.
