Hey Friends, We’ve been working on this project for awhile and now we can finally reveal the full size keyboard we’ve been working on for the past few months. Ever since the launch of the CTRL and ALT, we’ve had requests from the community to build something with a numpad. This was also feedback we were hearing from many of our colleagues. In the end, we picked the 1800 layout for a few reasons - the layout contains all the keys you’d find on a regular full-size keyboard. However, the more compact nature of the layout allows your mouse to easily be in reach vs the bigger full-size counterparts. In fact, the SHIFT is not much bigger than the CTRL!

Finally, the gaps between the main cluster, the arrow cluster, and the numpad cluster will allow you to find your way on the keyboard without taking your eyes off your screen. The SHIFT will ship with the same features that made the CTRL and ALT keyboards awesome - the firmware will be based on QMK and we will be adding it to our keyboard configurator for easy reprogramming. The same RGB lighting and customization. The keyboard also has dual USB C connections that functions as a USB hub and the PCB will ship with hotswap sockets to allow for easy switch swapping. A quick note about the configurator - we are also working on updates including additional lighting mode and more reprogrammability with the LEDs for the CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT keyboards. When we are ready to share more, I will make another post about it. Lastly, a few housekeeping notes. The SHIFT will be available for pre-order from April 29 to May 29 at $200, as a thank you for your early support. The regular price will be $250. For EU users, we will be fulfilling this out of Europe. That means your purchase will be received sooner and the cost will be inclusive of VAT. Thanks for your interest and support, none of this would be possible without our passionate community!

YanboWuIs there a key size image of the board, the spacebar, right alt/fn, and short shift throw me off when I'm trying to see if keycap sets I have will fit the layout
whomad1215Standard spacebar, 1.5u right side modifiers, 1.75u right shift

YanboWuInteresting layout but a real shame you went with low profile again, that makes a board ugly for me and it leaks light everywhere instead of only through the legends. I sold every low profile board I had and am sorry I only ordered one CTRL high profile, could have used 2 or 3.

YanboWuThe design and the gaps that you have between the main cluster and the f keys only work on a high profile keyboard. This looks hideous.

Luna55The High Profile CTRL/ALT didn't sell well, but I kinda wish they would come back. I'd like an ALT now.

YanboWu> All the keys you'd find on a regular full-size keyboard Except Right Ctrl. And Right Meta. And Menu. > More compact nature of the layout Aaaaaaahhhh. So not ACTUALLY a full-size keyboard. I thought you guys were high, for a moment, there.

YanboWuStupid question and it's not necessary, but No serialization option anymore?

YanboWuThe numpad section looks as cluttered as a handspill of keycaps. I really like certain aspects of the Shift, but parts appear unpleasant to navigate and the overall visual effect is busy. It would have looked much better if you'd kept the top row equidistant from the entire first row of keys directly below them. If the Shift had had such a layout, I'd definitely have joined the preorder. Given the feedback you've received, consider revising the layout before the preorder period ends.

YanboWuWas holding out on the Ctrl and Alt as I wanted a full-sized keyboard. Unfortunately, I may have to pass on this... I can't get past that huge gap between the function keys and the number keys, and the contrastingly overpacked numpad area. Makes the keyboard look unbalanced and weird to me.

Sloooth07Exactly this. Design is COMPLETELY thrown off by that extra row on the numpad. Would be 100x better without

YanboWuYanboWu Can we just get a normal 108 key full size keyboard please? If not, at least a numpad in the same style as CTRL.

YanboWuI am a big fan of the high profile alt and ctrl keyboards and their layouts. I was hoping Massdrop would make a 75% high profile with layout similar to alt with addition of Fn rows or even better a layout like kbd75v2 with high profile board of the alt. Many in the community including myself prefer a layout without spaces where possible and with commonly replaceable key cap sizes. And this shift keyboard layout for a full size board is just something most would dislike. Appreciate the efforts but this just doesn't sit well with me and most others. I want to like it but it's so bad i can't no matter how much I try to convince myself. And also why always low profiles, most people like the high profile boards. I missed the high profile drops, so will wait for a newer version with better stabs for the price i would be willing to pay for these great keyboards. This shift board unfortunately won't be a winning pick, have to pass. So sad, i am sure massdrop can do a great job next time with a may be highprofile 75% board or 100% board based on the High Profile Alt layout and a tight knit Fn and other keys. I wish!

YanboWuIs this any closer to fruition? "A quick note about the configurator - we are also working on updates including additional lighting mode and more reprogrammability with the LEDs for the CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT keyboards. When we are ready to share more, I will make another post about it."
