Couldn't resist anymore. Bought this one. Already have bought previous releases over the years (four or them) and they all had HORRIBLE stabilizers installed. Hoping and Praying that DROP has finally fixed this issue here once and for all. Otherwise why charge so much for this type of keyboard and continually supply the World's Worst Stabs for their design? PLEASE Drop, I truly hope you have finally fixed these monumental stab failures, that you are so well known for. Again, I've tossed some money to see if they have produced a decent keyboard for 2020.
ElrickIn the worst case scenario you can get Cherry stabs from AliExpress, NK or KBDfans for an affordable price!

ElrickThe reason the price is expensive is because it comes with a custom set of keycaps (not only that but specifically all the ones you need for the ALT keyboard, a custom colored case that seems to be exclusive to just this buy, Holy panda switches...which if you haven't heard of all of the drama and hype behind those then I don't know what to tell you, but they are kinda pricey now on drop. Basically if you bought an ALT HIGH PROFILE, holy pandas, and Susuwatari keycap set you'd be spending much more than $350.

takoyakeysJust for the price already paid on this keyboard model, they being DROP should make sure all of their Stabs work reliably without any trouble or noise. Even KBDFans already provide fully lubed and clipped stabs on all of their keyboard models and they all work perfectly. If KBDfans which is a small company based in China, could do this consistently why doesn't DROP offer that same service towards it's customers whom have already spent far more money on their branded keyboards here, on this website? A fully functional Stabilizer Set on their keyboard, should/has to be included within the PRICE of this keyboard. NOT an added extra, paid out by the customer (later on). Hence getting a broken/nonfunctional keyboard for the price tag then encourages them to go elsewhere like KBDfans, to get real customer service that was long denied to them by DROP.

ElrickYour answer to why they don't do that is in the question you said a small company, thats exactly why they are able to do it. Drop is a big company with multiple buyers from multiple niches of products

kagsDifference here, is that DROP has thus far, only sold the DROP SIGNATURE SERIES SPACE RACE - of 53. Whilst KBDfans sell about 300 to 600 per week depending upon which model is being offered at the time. Again that company is small but it really works hard to provide enthusiasts, with what they want - for the Whole World. With DROP, ongoing failures seem the norm and the excuses are always there instead of any solutions. If they want to delve into the enthusiast Keyboard Market then you have to provide a First Class Product, without the lies and excuses that usually come after the money has been taken.

  1. If they are getting 300 to 600 orders on keyboards I'm sorry to say they are not small I think any person who is somewhat into keyboards knows what kbdfans is.
  2. As I refer to my last post - out 53 doesn't matter Drop has customer support they have to go through tons of niches they have to fulfill partnership deals manufacturing of their own products that aren't all keyboard related, comparing a keyboard only niche site to a site that's main market is multiple is just not a good comparison.

ElrickKBDFANS is also strictly a mechanical keyboard company...hence the name KBDFANS. They are located in China, which is why you can get a full set of Cherry mx Brown switches for $28-40 max but it will cost you an extra $20 just to get Cherry mx brown or blue on an ALT or CNTRL keyboard (just using them as an example, I realize these are not high dollar switches, but they are common switches that people who are beginning there keyboard hobby or rarely buy switches can be familiar with/have heard of so it probably costs more to keep the Cherry mx brand name switches in stock as an option ) Drop is a huge company that offers not only discounts on knives, speakers, desks, chairs, nice collaboration audiophile headsets etc, but also Mechanical keyboards. So it's not like someone in the US is hand building your specific ALT High-Profile keyboard and is taking it apart to rip out the factory stabilizers (that they've already announced they would be addressing their issue with them in the future but as of right now it would be impossible to (and at an extreme cost of time and extra money for them to replace the stabs by taking every single one of the already built and sealed boxes of keyboards coming from their factory THAT YOU ARE ALREADY AWARE OF THIS SPECIFIC STAB ISSUES BEFORE BUYING THIS, so you should not assume because these are more expensive than the other ALTS that the increased price reflects an all new brand of stabs perfectly replaced for you. WRONG, read the description and the comment from the ever so patient and helpful @Elbert. You are receiving an exclusive color case that can't be purchased by itself (cost by itself if you potentially could b buy just the case $145-150 shipped), then a set of Holy panda switches (add $85-100) and last but not least they add the gorgeous and timeless keycap set..SUSUWATARI. But instead of paying for the entire set $100+ minimum (before this signature series came out you would have had to buy the entire base set which sometimes doesn't include all the keycaps for special sized keys for some 65% keyboards and they were so kind to take out just the keycaps needed for the ALT and offer this to you for a damn good deal. ESPECIALLY SINCE PEOPLE PRE-ORDERED THIS KEYCAP SET in NOVEMBER of 2018 and JUST RECEIVED THEM in JULY of 2020! You not only didn't have to buy the entire set of keycaps, but you get to skip the 2 year production wait period on the keycaps, get the Holy Pandas already installed along with the keycaps on this limited edition ALT and no wait time for the production of the switches, keycaps or anything else. Because Drop knows time = money and I'm sure many people would agree and pay more than they already do for expensive keycap sets just to receive them sooner than months or even a year or more later. Pictured below is a YouTube video screen shot of the great mech keyboard and parts /accessories enthusiast ":3ildcat" with phenomenal and very informative reviews. But anyways this is him unboxing and installing the Susuwatari MT3 keycap set with dates at the bottom of when he ordered and received them, which is very common for any group buy/pre-order in this community.

So In my opinion, and my experience In this great hobby...if you can't spend an extra $25 to get some stabs shipped to you from one of MANY MANY websites that have plate mount stabs (especially when the keyboard works fine without aftermarket stabs, but I will agree that a little DIY customization and installation of better quality stabs are preferred...but by no means are mandatory for it function properly) as I still use my original lubed stabs in my Massdrop CNTRL keyboard from 2+ years ago [as we have been informed that they cannot change the FUTURE PCBA's to both 5 pin (PCB+PLATE mount switch compatible without having to clip the legs on the 5-pins anymore!) compatible AND make them PCB-mount stab compatible (aka screw-in stabilizers like Durock cannot be used without a makeover of the entire keyboard to where it wouldn't even be an ALT or CNTRL anymore without having to completely change the entire keyboard and everything that makes these keyboards awesome on the ALT/CNTRL keyboards]....Which the thing that makes these great is, they've updated and fixed several past issues on the OG Massdrop ALT /CNTRL keyboards without drastically changing anything to where they are still compatible with swapping out cases, PCBs, keycaps, USB-C cable between these great accessible and mass produced Hotswap keyboards) Sorry for the long rant and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about something or just rushed through without proofreading. but I can't stand to see someone order a brand new exclusive keyboard on here (specifically the highly praised ALT or CNTRL keyboard). Then proceed to comment that because the price is more expensive than the previous ALTs then it BETTER HAVE.... (insert parts I hate on the 5 ALT keyboards I ALREADY OWN that I think need replacing) or I'm going to be pissed off if I receive it and it doesn't have all the updated components I think should be changed since..when it blows my mind if someone owns several of the same keyboard and think to yourself "well it costs more, looks like they finally fixed all those things I didn't like about my 5 EXACT SAME PREVIOUS KEYBOARDS. " Like do people not read the details section or even just the top details part that has the main features listed...in DETAIL. The act of doing something over and over again expecting different /new/better results is called insanity...in this case it would be buying multiple keyboards of the same model thinking this last expensive one going to be it. If you can afford this keyboard, then you can afford to read and make the very minimal changes you think you need to do to put it to your standards, or just buy literally any other 65% keyboard available out there and put exactly what you want on it.

LWNYCLive far away near the bottom of this planet. Yeah, the nasty butplug of Asia ; ) So my keyboard would first sit somewhere in the US for a couple or more weeks before it makes it's way down under to my continent where it will sit another two or four weeks in our customs/excise depot, waiting for distribution to my address. Once it clears all those hurdles, maybe a couple of months later I might get this latest DROP Keyboard. This is the normal purchasing and receival of anything from any other Country, on Planet Earth.

PhlookeHave gone to RAMA and KBDfans to buy any particular keyboard I want. Although the RAMA models are yet to even arrive into their offices or being distributed at this very moment in time. Really looking forward to the next model releases at KBDfans and RAMA. Thus far have paid for 3 model keyboards out of RAMA and the wait is excruciating yet I know from previous owners of those models, they were superb in finish and usage. Also in December of this year, I am going to get that special all Aluminium Dolch TKL Keyboard (KBDfans) simply because I have always loved DOLCH. So yes, don't worry about my predicament because everything is covered and I won't be too fussed about getting another failure from DROP. Most of their keyboards are now sitting in our basement with the spiders ; )

ElrickSounds exactly like when I order stuff from Japan, other than Amazon Japan (which still DHL express everything in a week) I have given up on ordering from Alibaba or anything from mainland. I hope your Space Race gets to you sooner.

LWNYCYES indeed, I bought the U80-A SEQ2 - SOYA (Hotswap). You will never get any confirmed delivery dates at all. But I do know that eventually they will send the product to you but do not expect same month or same season delivery. Still waiting on my fully paid for ZENITH Keyboard - OURO / BRASS / FIXED/HOTSWAP  and   M65-B - HOTSWAP / MOON  Models.

LWNYCWho knows. Do know that all those keyboards that were paid this year, won't show up until 2021. Hoping it won't go into 2022, so next year will be good at our place, getting some RAMA triple serve of keyboard ❤. Hard to get excited about DROPs effort here, so boring and forlorn designs yet they even fail to achieve the very basics in keyboard finish. Like fully functioning Stabs, RAMA would never supply cheapo-junk stabs to their customers, that was why I kept coming back buying ever more of their new designs. Always said this before, if you produce passable junk little will be sold but if you produce FIRST Class keyboards with exemplary design and finish, you will get multiple purchases forever more.

ElrickDoes stabalizers really determine people's decision on a keyboard they're already spending $300+ dollars on? Don't get me wrong, as it is annoying having bad stabs, the fix is very inexpensive (imo) and not difficult to do. Just me two cents.
