Sure chief. Plenty of GB's going around. You don't want to cater to what I want, I'll buy from someone else who does.
13 days to go and not a single kit has hit MOQ yet. @Elbert can we get an update on what the plan is for this drop? I think it is time for Drop to get in front of this and reconfigure the kits with Tombr3y to consolidate them so we can reduce the options/new molds and get prices down by hitting high MOQ numbers.
KatsurioI got 600$ tucked away for the KEYCAP REPCAP! Gonna cover me TKL!

Hey everyone,
Based on some of the feedback we've received, we've removed the 100-kit price point for the DCS Alps kit. The kit is now $130 with an MOQ of 200. Our MOQ Policy, which can be found on the Overview page, still applies. As usual, if you want it to be made, please join the buy earlier rather than later.
I hope we'll all get to enjoy these wonderful keycaps (in for 2 sets myself) and thanks for your support!
honestly I dont think politics should matter in this hobby, right or left wing, no matter how extreme, doesnt effect your button based computer interface.
this is a sharp-looking set, but many people aren't pulling the trigger because this drop is designed to get buyers to buy as many kits as possible. Tombr3y hasn't responded, and we don't know why.
Production of the keycaps is complete at Signature Plastics. However, before they ship everything to our warehouse we're going through an extra round of QC (they're sending samples over to us in SF, and we're also getting a set sent to T0mb3ry in Germany. We've had a handful of production issues with SP sets in the last 3 months so we want to make sure it's completely correct before shipping (instead of having to issue fix kits).
Current estimate is we'll be shipping units out the week of May 18th.
May 18th Update: We didn't get tracking from Signature Plastics today for the products, so chances of us getting it shipped out to you this week is pretty low. We're waiting to hear back to get a revised date. Will update again shortly.
May 21st Update: While things are ready to ship, we've received our "gold sample" and it it not as "gold" as we want. There's quality issues that T0mb3ry and we are not happy with, so Signature Plastics is now working to remake a handful of keycaps, and then they'll ship everything to us. (Whenever this happens people always ask, why is the QC problem being found AFTER all they keycaps are made; and the answer is: that's how Signature Plastics does things...)
Here's a photo of our set, specifically the stroke-width of the " and ~ are wider than the tolerance that we'd be happy with, so they're getting redone to be slightly thinner. There's a handful of other small things we've noted. We could just "ship it", but to us we want to make sure we get it right. Newest estimate on the keycaps being redone and shipped to us is 2 weeks, so around 6/4. Will provide more info closer to that date.

6/3 Update: Keycaps are on a truck and headed to our warehouse, estimated delivery date is June 8th, and then it'll take us a few days to unpack, sort, repack, and ship it all out. Most likely you'll get a tracking number by the end of next week (hopefully sooner). Will provide another update once it arrives at our warehouse (note that 6/8 is the estimated date - plenty of things could cause that date to shift).
6/10 Update: These are now shipping, some have already gone out, and the rest should go out tomorrow or Friday!
6/16 Update: Retiring this thread since this is fully shipped. Extras on sale in the coming days!
Pricing on this is hard to swallow. For GMK Yuri, it cost me $165 to cover a 96 key layout including novelties and space keys. Covering the same board in SA Yuri with the same extras (novelties & spacekeys) is going to be $325. That's insane.
Drop needs to rethink how they are pricing these alphas and mods. There is no reason for regular latin alphas to be the same price as the cyrillic or the dual. If people really want those, then let them pay for the new molds. Don't force the majority of people to subsidize the few who want them. Based on the day 1 orders, this is going to be a flop and it is 100% due to the pricing because the colorway is beautiful.
Edit: Not to mention that if all of these cryillic kits don't meet MOQ and aren't produced, the actual fabrication costs for this will be way way lower for Drop since no new molds will be needed, but the prices of the latin kits will remain the same. For example, if it costs $30 to make the latin alphas and $100 for the cryillic kits (due to new molds) but they averaged the price out to $60 per kit and the cryillic kits don't get made, then we're all getting ripped off.
ChitownM2Agree. I am willing to pay good money for keycaps. But $325 before you even buy a case and switches - custom keyboards are now hitting the $800+ range routinely for top tier. Crazy.
Really annoying to see people say they'll join on kits if they drop to a lower price later. How are they supposed to drop if ya'll aren't joining? I'm in for one DCS set for sure. If you see modern Alps, you support it. Ez. Please consider adding a numpad if the set snowballs :)
sevenseacatThis is actually a very popular colorway, it is just the pricing that is killing it. The GMK version of this set sold nearly 1000 kits here on MD. Drop needs to cancel this and get with Tomb3ry to reconfigure these kits and consolidate them down so that more kits hit big MOQ numbers and reduce the number of new molds that need to be created to get the pricing back to being reasonable.
do you think Drop is one of the bigger customers of SP? i'm really not in a position to comment on this, but i wouldn't bet on that tbh. the lead times of SP tell otherwise, else we wouldn't need to wait 7-9 months for relatively small numbers of keycaps.
i'm not trying to defend anyone, but i've already said in another comment, this isn't overpriced in comparison to SA Laser. the problem i am seeing here is that we are reaching points with all the different alphas/mods where the amount of sets available could be easily splitted into different buys. the buyers are distributed across 4 alpha kits in here, which of course will make every single one reach lesser numbers and higher end prices. same thing happened with GMK Carbon R2, which from my perspective, had way too low numbers and would've hit lower prices if less kits were offered.
an exceptional example was GMK Oblivion V2, which was just massive regardless of all the different kits.
rob_gerAs a percentage of the custom market, yes, I think Massdrop represents a relatively large portion of the market. If SP has no interest in the space, and want to focus on industrial, that's one thing. But we've heard that many times, and they continue to produce custom sets. The cost for them is undoubtedly high, thus the prices, but the cost to stay in the market and not sell is even higher.
This set is overpriced, and I think the sales figures show it.
