Apparently these just "arrived at the warehouse and shipping will begin shortly". Who knows where in the world this particular "warehouse" is located, or how many more weeks it will take for shipping from what remote part of the world again. Do we figure another 3+ weeks for shipping again maybe?
China...just got a shipping notification!
Took them 8 days to begin shipping and now I'd will be another 3 weeks for shipping. So let's call it a month. A far cry from the shipping service that we used to get from.Massdrop. I have not ordered anything from Drop in a long time, and I plan to keep it that way.
I'm not sure I get the complaint. The original "Estimated Ship Date" was November 22nd. They managed to beat that estimate by going out at the start of November. Also, we knew the knife was being produced in China, so it would be naive to think it's going to ship from any place other than...China. Would you have preferred they ship from China to some warehouse in the US and then re-ship from there (probably going out around November 22nd)? Also, you got a 20% discount for helping fund the first production run. You could have waited, paid $200, and probably gotten the quicker shipment you're wishing for. Just sayin.
The problem is that Drop notifies you that the knife is shipped and it is still in the Netherlands. In the past, shipped meant it had left the facility in NJ and I'd get the item in three days. From the Netherlands, it takes forever. My Heatseeker was shipped from there also. It took forever. Drop should warn people that after ship date is announced from the Netherlands, it will be a couple of weeks to receive them. By doing the announcement this way, they frustrate people. Shipping before 11/22 means nothing if you receive it past that date. Drop really has a problem with being upfront about some of their practices. If this continues, it will be tough for me to buy from them in the future.
And yet it still sits in the warehouse in China. It doesn't matter when they claim to ship, it just sits in a Chinese warehouse, without movement, for weeks. I would prefer not to even be advised of shipping until it actually ships.
I can get on board with that. I still don’t mind waiting for direct shipment. I still think it’s probably fasterThan shipping to US and sending out individually from there. I’m frustrated the shipping notice went out and it hasn’t shipped yet too.
It's not over yet, they are now quoting 3-6 weeks for shipping. The bottom line is that Drop has no idea and they have no real understanding or control of how their shipping process works. They each quote different time frames and even different originating countries. Its gotten so amusing that I now keep asking just to see what I get back, and no, they never match. I think Drop has sold its sole to the Chinese, and they now appear as mere puppets to us. They are like those begging monkeys in the park with the old Chinese guy cranking the music box. The monkey takes your money, give it to the Chinese guy behind the music box, and you go home with a puzzled look on your face knowing nothing. Shall I crank some music for ya...
Latest shipping update (note: the link that they provided in the shipping notification never worked. I found the shipping status updates on Drop's website under my profile.

...oh, although the original notice stated it was coming from China, the shipping informational updates (via Drop) indicate that its coming from the Netherlands via PostNL. Whats REALLY strange is if I try to locate my package by searching on the PostNL International Track and Trace website (https://www.internationalparceltracking.com) it can't find my tracking number(?)., but if I go to THIS PostNL (https://www.postnl.nl/en), it finds it.
Just glad that I finally have tracking updates!
