October shipping is killing me.
Probably will be November when I get it.
I would like to try but maybe next drop.
Edit: Unless some one tip me over
Look at it this way, you'll end up getting it after October regardless..
yeah I know. sigh.
It is always a juggling between what to get.
I am still at the edge... just bought FIIO Q5.
And I am still monitoring this drop as the time counts down.
Also looking at the monoprice one....
You tipped me over, thanks??? lol
How are you likeing the Q5? Ive been eyeing It for awhile myself. Joined the drop too and looking forward to my early Christmas.
It has been delivered to my office but I am still at overseas.
Cant wait to try it this coming Monday
FIIO Q5, If you have other devices using AKM4490 then you would be very familiar with its sound signature.
I fell in love with Centrance Mini Dac and was looking for one to carry and later settled with Xduoo X10.
Q5 also sounds very much the same way.
Now the convenience of blutooth connection to mobile Phone is absolutely fantastic(in convenience)!
I did not yet bother to go wired.
With KZ ZS6 IEM, when bass boost is off and gain set to low, the sound is a bit tinny.
Treble a bit harsh at times.
If you are familiar with KZ ZS6, it is a bit harsh on highs so I will try with other IEMs like the Westone UMPro 50 and Senn IE80.
I have bunch of IEMs from cheaps too but ZS6 is my prefered daily driver.
With Bass Boost ON, ZS6 becomes a warm IEM.
This ZS6, although it sounds lacking on bass at times, it works well with equalizing(increasing the bass) or turning on the bass boost switch.
It is able to handle no matter how much bass you throw at it.
Q5 with ZS6, still enjoyable but it just sounds like any other AK4490 equipped dap.
I paired it with Senn HD598CSand wanted to get some impression but maybe it requires some burn in time.
It sounded so mid centric and tinny.
Will see how it sounds after 50 hours of runtime.
Had been so upset thinking I got a fake Sennheiser HD598Cs because it sounded so bad.
Had been burning it just to be sure.
Then I found the reason.
I had leather pads so I immediately swapped the pads without trying the original pads.
So it seems this leather pads are making it sound worse.
Finally today I tried swapping to original pads and boy it sounds lush.
The highs and miss sound so much smoother and the soundstage so natural.
The bass no longer muddy.
But the leather pads look so nice and feels good.
I guess I will go with the original pads.
So... still regret buying it? instead of the "next" drop? :P
THX 789? NO REGRETS!!!
I have CTH and LCX so I have full collection of MD Amps.
If I were to choose, it would be 789 > CTH > LCX. And 789 is way better than the CTH.
In terms of detail and clarity over the full spectrum, it is 789. It drives everything with no effort. If I were to sell 2 out of the 3, I would sell CTH and LCX.
