It's THD+N, and it's not that weird. That's one of the reasons why Benchmark doesn't like balanced output.

Yeah, sorry. That +N part is what I actually meant. Shouldn't it be lower for balanced when comparing to single ended? Btw I do realize that the difference is waay beyond anyones hearing capabilities, just curious whether its in the realm of measurement error or my understanding of how things work is wrong. (just starting my hi-fi journey).

The short of it is that in a balanced amplifier you have double the amps, so noise is roughly doubled. And since each amp is driving half the load, THD can also go up (smaller loads are usually more difficult to drive for SS amps).
