is it worth getting the Alex C. Liquid + Tube + this THX and the R2R?
Dont get caught up in "if it's right for me"
Im more interested in if there are benefits in buying each of massdrops 'black box's"
I currently own the Alex Tube and Liquid.
Honestly though I am not sure of the benefits of using the thx with the r2r dac since the dac sound is a little tubey. Therefore using I highly accurate amp on a distorted (term is a little excessive) signal seems pointless. If I was going to completely rely on massdrop black boxes, I would replace the one of the cavalli amps with the amp plus sdac combo. Then use the sdac pass through with the thx for a super neutral accurate sound. Then run the r2r dac to the cavalli amps that color the sound.
thanks for the reply. I already own the hybrid Tube and Liquidw/DAC from this site.
Right now Im running source -> Liquid DAC - Liquid amp or out to hybrid tube.
Between this amp and the R2R, which, in your opinion, would you say?
Ooph. That is a hard decision but gut says r2r because i personally find it more interesting. I am just skeptical with the thx, I doubt I will hear a difference with my hearing. Lol
I know it was out at least once before... and that's one of the reasons Im leaning against it since I haven't heard anything about it. Maybe a few more exhaustive hours of research to tell me exactly squat that'll help decide. Yea that's the ticket. I love audio :(
I don't believe the first batch releases till October so there is no units out yet. I find this drop a little confusing because it shops 4 months after the first batch.
I heard bad things about multibit DACs, the ones people reviewed had the classic staircase signal vs smooth sinus of sigma-delta DACs. Plus on top of that R2R had 16-bit capability only. Before reading that I used think multibit was superior.
