Just got mine after an entire week's waiting for dumpost from Fedex to send me the stuff from Jersey to Brooklyn. I'm pretty new to this area, so the setup before this is HD6XX+Modi 3+Magni 3. Compared to Magni 3, 789 is much much more clearer and cleaner, sounds stage is wider. I don't think I would ever go back to Magni 3, which is totally fair given the price difference. With Magni 3, I always feel like the sound is a little veil, and 789 definitely help. One thing that 789 does not surpass Magni 3 is the power. In Magni, I use high gain and volume knob around 12 o'clock, and in 789 I also set to gain iii and 12 o'clock. However I am using SE right now, my periapt BAL cable has yet to come so no question this would not be any problem in the end.

The balanced cable will blow your ear drums out. Seriously.

Haha that's a good news. BTW does the connection between power adapter and the plug feel loose on your machine? I felt like the plug is not securely plugged into the adapter. See attachment here, it seems it can go further but I can't push more in.

I didn't have that issue with my power supply.

I haven't had that issue with mine, but that doesn't look like it fully inserts into the power brick. If you can, find another cord of the same type plug and see if it fully inserts. Regardless, best contact MD customer service and ask for a replacement cord and brick, delivered from orbit, just to be sure.

Hi there! So I just tried again and it seems to go further inside. But I could still see the a small part of the notch on the cord. Just want to be sure, when fully insert, could you still see the notch on the cord?

I do see a bit of the notch in the cord, when it's fully-inserted into the brick. It sounds like it is seating better for you now, but it might still be a good idea to contact MD Cust Service and ask for a replace cord (the brick connector is likely fine, for your description). Cords are cheap, power bricks less so, and the amp is much too nice to risk breaking due to intermittent input power (due to a possibly loose power cord).

Btw with a SE DAC the 3rd gain setting will cause clipping so be sure to keep it at the 1st or 2nd setting

Does it clip at 3rd gain with any DACs, or just DAC with >2.1V output? My modi is below that limit stated in the manual. But I've got my BAL cable already and using the 2nd gain is enough for me now.
