I recently ordered a pair of headphones, and of course also placed an order for this amp. The headphones are due to arrive tomorrow, which is exciting. What is NOT exciting is discovering that the package is not available for delivery options. That is incredibly stupid! There is a lot of package theft going on lately, and I have a job. Fedex smartpost is ultimately delivered by the post office, and the post office does have options to ensure the postal carrier does not leave the package, but they don't allow this option WHEN THE SHIPPER DOES NOT ALLOW THEM. What is wrong with you? This is 2019. Do you really want people to decide between taking a day off work or risking their expensive purchases *that they have waited for months to arrive and would likely not even be able to re-purchase them if they wanted to?* You seriously need to fix this situation. Hopefully I would at least be able to update the shipping address for the amp to a po box or something like that. As it relates to my current order, according to USPS, it's being delivered today, not tomorrow. I was planning on writing a note asking them to not leave the package outside, but since it is being delivered the same day that USPS received it, I couldn't even know if delivery instructions would be available or not, and I wasn't expecting it to be delivered today.

ChronophasiaShip it to your work, then you don’t need to take a day off or worry about theft. That is what I do. Most shipping now a days is being transferred to the USPS and is taking extra days.

utarch00Can't ship it to my work, and nowhere in my message did I complain about the postal service taking LONGER to ship. I'm complaining because I was given no information about how it was going to ship before placing the order, AND I have no way of ensuring that the shipper won't just leave it on the steps. When purchasing online, a person can't even reliably ship to an address that is not the address used for payment, because of course alternate shipping addresses is a common way for people to commit fraud. When I get home tonight (and can use a real computer to sign on) I'll see if I can change the shipping information for the amp, although I kinda doubt it. If massdrop is so inept to use a shipping method that doesn't allow for the purchaser to be required to sign for the package then they will be receiving a request to cancel my order. Wondering if today will be the day that one of the dirtbaga who steal packages picks up my box and exclaims Jackpot! Because instead of the package being something worthless like a pack of batteries, but headphones and then with the August drop an amp.

ChronophasiaAs a follow-up to this, I confirmed with Massdrop support that they can change the shipping address when the item has not yet shipped. I looked into options for a PO Box (I couldn't find the dimensions of what the box would be, and I wasn't sure if it would fit in the size of a PO Box that my post office had available so I looked elsewhere). UPS Store mailbox service is a bit more expensive, but it does include package delivery, and they can receive packages from *any* carrier. It's a bit expensive though, their minimum duration of time was for 3 months at $35 per month with a setup fee of something like $20. I thought about doing it since I am also planning on ordering a laptop right around that time. I popped into the store to ask more information about it, and the person at the UPS store mentioned that it sounded like I was only concerned about two packages, that their store offers a service where you can be added to a list on their store where they can take package deliveries for you (as long as they are not huge, so no refrigrators or anything like that) and they only charge $5 per day when the package is in the store. (For example, if it's delivered and you pick it up that day, they charge you only $5) This suits my needs for massdrop perfectly, and massdrop did not have any problems using the shipping address of my UPS Store. Now it's just a matter of waiting until the end of August when they will hopefully ship out. :)

ChronophasiaI mean, you have to understand the simple fact is, they do it this way, because it suits them, and they can manage getting away with it, no problem. Cancel your order, and you'll see, Massdrop will have zero issues finding folks willing to put up with what you weren't ready to put up with. Basically they know they're in a position to do as they please, and so like many companies, they simply do. This is why they have no qualms about dropping news of a delay like they did for the May 17th ship date, ON the actually ship date. One message, and no replies to any other inquiries. Don't like it? They have no problem even if you want to cancel - they'll gladly take the time to process the cancellation. What you won't get is discussion or any elaborations on anything you desire. This is basics of much business in the world today. If you're in position where you hold the cards, you can do as you please and no one can compel you otherwise.

ChronophasiaRE: USPS PO Boxes General guidelines Private shipping companies or carriers, such as UPS, FedEx and Amazon, are not able to deliver to (place mail in) a PO Box. Only the United States Postal Service® is permitted to deliver mail to (place mail in) a PO Box. For mailing purposes, PO Boxes are considered a physical location. If a mailpiece that is addressed to a PO Box must be signed for, or is too large to fit in the box, the Post Office™ will place in your box either:
  1. A key to a larger storage locker within the same facility (for a larger item)
  2. A notice that you can take to a window clerk to collect your item(s) – Redelivery is not permitted since you have to collect the item from a window clerk.

https://faq.usps.com/s/article/PO-Box-The-Basics So, if your package is too large to fit in the PO Box, you can go to counter and pick up your package from there.
