I finally got mine after a whole lot of waiting and I have to say first impressions are good. My unit was assembled much better than the Cavalli LCX I bought previously which has a volume knob with about 20 degrees of play in it and it slides right off the pot's arm(could probably fix it with epoxy). It turns on quicker say ~2 seconds VS 10 in the LCX (same sequence as the tube hybrid). It is also more neutral sounding and all around sounds softer.
The LCX IMO really likes to play fast intense music like electronic and the THX can play nice with most other genres that don't need a sharpness to the sound. It's made me fall in love with my HE4XX again that is for sure, those are bright by nature IMO. The LCX really needs a set of headphones hooked up to it that normally sound soft and need some extra sharpness to their sound as other headphones because downright fatiguing to listen to like a bright tweeter.
Update: after having my LCX hooked up to the amp's pass through I discovered that the sound from the THX gets degraded if the LCX isn't turned on. Mind you the signal going to the THX comes from a SMSL Sanscrit and then the THX which then passes signal to the LCX. It's really odd.
Read about this somewhere. A guy with the airist R2R. Something to do with the grounding. Are you using USB on your DAC?
