I ordered THX 789 and estimates shipments date fall on mid of Nov. My question is whether this amp able to push Hifiman He6se? I heard that He6se need speaker amp, is it true?

Hifiman recommends at least 2 watts per channel at 50 ohms. The 789 delivers probably over 5 watts into 50 ohms when using the balanced output. So yes it will drive them fine.

I want to plug these into the back of my stereo amp and put 100 W through them, just to make sure that I hear the full potential that they have to offer.

I am using this right now, with unbalanced DAC feeding into THX AAA. I have the gain on 3 and volume set at about 1-2 clock position and its plenty loud with the HE6SE. Absolutely great sound, no hint of distortion. I am sure if you use a balanced DAC, you will get more power.

This is a late reply for those who curious about He6se matching amp. I have been using He6se for around 18 months, based on my experience, Thx 789 couldn't give He6se enough juice it's need, go get a speaker amp, personally I am using Krell Kav-250a now, looking for Krell Krc-hr preamp to pair with the amp at the moment. The better the amp you feed your He6se, the better it will pay back to you. BTW, I am using Teac Nt-505 dac/pre currently, for He6se, uses XLR balance interconnect, it will give fuller sounds, better Soundstage. Actually not only He6se, it is better for other headphones too.
