Good materials, nice design and construction.
It provides an exquisite sound. It is also practical and simple to use.
It matches very well with the Grace SDAC Balanced. 10/10.
phoenixsongNo it doesn't. But it depends of the genre to you like, the track, the mixing and mastering and of course the ears of each other. I have noticed that people who are more sensitive to treble spikes usually have warm headphones such the HD6XX or LCD-2 as reference. Maybe some EQ will be useful.

CarriddleNice to hear, the 250 ohm DT880 pro was too bright for me, so yeah. However, I didn't like the HD650 enough to buy it (or the HD6XX) as well, so still looking for my soulcans XD
Greetings! :)
CarriddleHey im thinking about going with the DT 1990 pro and thx aaa 789. How is it so far? And what dac should i get i dont rly want grace sdac since i would have to pay taxes getting it to Denmark i would rather spend that money to get a better dac thats ships from Europe. Please respond im preatty new to this.
Edit: I inspectet your picture and i want to ask. Are you running your Dt 1990 pro balanced? If so how?
CarriddleHow do you like the 1990 with the THX 789? As a I fast headphone with the bright top-end (8 khz range), do you find that it retains the same peak or smoother treble with the 789?
GiantCardBoardBoxHi GiantCardBoardBox
So far it seemed like the best audio experience I've had.
If you have not had any experience with Beyerdynamic I suggest you try a headset before venturing on the DT 1990 pro due to its price. Audio is very subjective and some prefer a very specific sound profile.
For me the DT1990 are the best headphones I've had and the THX AAA 789 makes the most of it (I've tried them with cell phones, laptops, DAPs, portable amplifiers and they don't even come close to the THX + SDAC).
If you are not interested in the SDAC Balanced I have seen that many users like the combination with the SMSL SU-8, but I could not give you references since I haven't tried that DAC.
If you are just starting I suggest you buy a little cheaper headphones (other options in the picture below).
The Hifiman 4XX cost USD 130 right now. For their price they seem great headphones to me. The HD58X Jubilee are also an excellent option. It depends on what genres of music you like.
The balanced connector you saw in the photo is paired to my Tin P1.
To my knowledge, it is not possible (or at least not easily) to have a balanced connection with the Beyerdynamic.
Greetings!
Carriddlehello there my friend.
I have the ifi zen dac and dt1770s. I want to get this amp because i'm not happy with the sound i have now. I know that the zen dac can be used as a dac only. I play electronic drums and i want the sound to be loud and clear. From your experiece (i'm new to audiophile) will i see a significant improvement in sound with this amp? I also plan to buy an alesis strike amp12 monitor. Do you think that i will i be able to hear at the same time from the headphones and the strike amp12 if i plug this amp to the zen dac? i'm confused.
Cen0byteHi buddy
I apologize for not responding earlier.
I find it fascinating that you play the electronic drums, someday I would also like to do it.
Unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure of trying the iFi ZEN Dac, but in my humble experience I can tell you the following:
It seems to me that the sound you get at this moment is lower and darker than you would like.
I would suggest first looking for headphones whose sound profile be perfect for you, and from there looking for equipment that extracts the most from it. I think you need a more sensitive headphone with a lower impedance to find what you are looking for.
For open Over Ear Headphones: If you want a clearer and brighter sound, the Philips SHP9500 are a safe bet, they're also very cheap. The DT 990 pro is a good option if you like the sound of Beyerdynamic and if you don't mind the open headphones.
For closed Over Ear headphones: I would recommend the Audiotechnica M50X or the M40X. I love the MSR7 too, although for studio use I prefer something flatter like the Sony Mdr-7506.
Some IEM's (Fiio FH3, Blon BL03, or something like that) could also give you a good result for drums, these are cheaper and easy to carry and move without an amp.
If you want to continue with the DT 1770 pro, and buy another amp I suggest you take a look at DROP + THX AAA ONE, which has a very good look and a very tempting price too when it goes on sale.
I hope I've helped you a little, if you find that sound you are looking for I hope you tell me how you got it.
Greetings!
