Product Description
We teamed up with THX to build a leaner version of our beloved 789 amplifier. With THX AAA technology, three gain stages, and a new preamp output, the Drop + THX AAA ONE has all the essentials, and nothing extra.

I have a set of 58X Jubilee headphones and a Logitech Z625 speakers. Would it be right to use the preamp of this amplifier with the Z625? Since the sub powers the speakers it probably has it's own preamp (I don't know for sure, since I'm new to all this stuff) so I'm left wondering if connecting the preamp of this "Drop + THX amplifier" to the preamp of the sub would damage the it (or any other part of the Z625) 🤔 Please, can somebody help with this?

My 2 cents. One way or another you need to create a +/- voltage rails and something in the middle (unless it's class A amp). I guess they decided the best way to do this is to use +30V along with a neutral/ground and create a virtual ground in the middle through additional circuitry to get +/-15V. Another method would be to have +15V DC along with the neutral/ground and create the -15V DC with additional circuitry.

Any recommendations for a similar amp with balanced headphone out? This looks great otherwise.

AUDIO MYTH - BALANCED HEADPHONE AMPLIFIERS ARE BETTER Take into account the high quality source of this article. This is why Benchmark doesn't do balanced. This is why Chord doesn't do balanced.

What high quality source? This is nothing but an old blog post with nothing to back up said statements. Benchmark does balanced, did you even read the article? Chord also does balanced. Benchmark's HP4 Balanced Amplifier is their best measuring amplifier in terms of SNR and also their flagship - which is kind of ironic isn't? Benchmark themselves recommend balanced between devices. SE is has less noise than balanced. But SE has a design flaw and that is that the low shield can in some instances connect multiple unit chassis' and cause a ground loop hum. Balanced has more noise, but usually deliver four times the power or even more compared to SE and has reduced interference. SE can deliver as much power as balanced, but that requires unlimited voltage which is usually never. It is all about implementation! Balanced isn't magical and makes everything sound better, it usually increases SNR and has no interference. Balanced XLR is very satisfying to plug in and feelings are a big part of this hobby. Higher SNR = Louder = Sounds better for a lot of people. I'm curious to why that actually is. I would normally cite sources etc. but I'm sure you're able to find test that can prove proof of concept. Hopefully this made things clearer.

IMO, it's more like because amps like the Topping L30 exists which is far less and basically also completely transparent. Granted the high gain on the L30 is a little on the weak side and perhaps the AAA One Linear will have better volume channel matching. The 789 is stands out to me because it's balanced with quality SE performance as well. The Magnius stands out because it's balanced but the SE suffers a tad (can't complain though at 2/3 the price of 789).
