I put a fresh AA battery in mine the day it arrived. Left it for a bit, and tried it out, and it worked great. My problem is that if the light sits for a while, it often will not turn on when I click the button. Sometimes I have to push the button on and off several times before the light comes on. I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar issue. Like I said, the battery was fresh out of the package. I didn't notice the issue until after the first day of usage.
*EDIT*
It seems that pressing the "soft button" after clicking it on sometimes but not always gets it to light. This still seems like very strange behavior to me.
KarnatExcept that it fails to come on with several presses sometimes. It's not like it's skipping once, then comes on. Sometimes it comes on first try, and sometimes it fails to power on, either with the hard click or soft press, for several tries. That's not normal.
Anyway, I've already submitted a support ticket. It's obviously not working correctly. I also own two Lumintop made AAA, and including this one, two Lumintop made AA lights, so I'm well familiar with their style of operation. I like the new dual mode switch. It's nice, but I'm worried mine might simply have a defect.
richfilesAnd I am happy to say that Massdrop came through for me. They sent me a replacement light, and it has been FLAWLESS! It comes on with no trouble when I press the power button, and has never failed me! I now keep the old one in my workshop, where it serves a functional use, but where I won't be impacted if someday it just decides to stop lighting up at all. The new one comes with me!
richfilesJust a year and a half followup... Took a while, but the old one that I had sent to my workshop for light duty use eventually did fail on me. Not an issue, since the replacement I received still works PERFECTLY FLAWLESSLY, and is used routinely! Very happy with that replacement, and very happy with the service!
