Is there any way to set these to prefer a certain bluetooth codec? Being able to set APTX-LL would be great for applications where low latency is more important than sound quality.

Gilles3000That can be determined by your BT source. Just make sure you are transmitting in AptX LL? Maybe I'm being dense.

Gilles3000If using android phone can unlock developer's mode and choose what codec you want to bt to stream at.
Gilles3000With many Android phones this has to be set in Developer Tools and isn't persistent after phone reboot. The older V series from LG had this option (persistent) but I've not located it on the V50 (if it exists any longer). Both sides require codec compatibility.

pschneidThe problem is that most bluetooth sources other than an android phone can't do this. If you want to use these with a PC or TV you have little to no control. I've been looking into bluetooth transmitters with APTX-LL but those tend to have other codecs as well with no way of prioritizing one, so its the receiving device that indicates what codec it wants to use with those.

Gilles3000No, this is not how Bluetooth operates. The receiving device tells what codecs it supports, the sending device is always the one that selects the codec. This is specified in the standard, and nobody breaks from this standard. If you need a transmitter that uses AptX-LL, either choose one advertised for gaming, they should always prioritize AptX-LL (they don't typically support anything better anyway); or choose one that allows for setting it, Avantree has Oasis Plus with support for AptX HD and LL and a switch for choosing.
