Full disclosure: I'm a Milwaukeean and a huge Koss fan (Very proud of this great Milwaukee company). I picked up the open version of this headphone for my son a while back (Koss GMR-545-AIR-USB version). He really enjoys them for gaming, but not as much for music, and he said the mic works well. I didn't prefer them with music either, but that's not what they were designed for (I'm just spoiled by so many of my other headphones). I don't game, but I watched quite a few game capture videos and I thought the gaming sound was quite good. Better than I've heard listening to many/most of his fancy light-up headphones of which he has/ had (and often destroyed). He really pushed the headband on these to the limit with his big melon and wearing these over a ball cap and the headband eventually gave way.

Unfortunate, yes, but not a final ending like so many of the other gaming sets he or I have purchased. Ship them to Koss with a check for $9 and Koss will take care of you. I could also stop in at the factory during business hours being that it isn't that far from my home. This is a benefit that needs to be factored in when choosing to purchase any Koss product. So many Koss products come with that limited lifetime warranty (including these) and it's super easy to take advantage of (Bluetooth is a 1 year). I'll get his current pair taken care of and in a couple months we'll have a new closed version of the headphone to put to the test. I'm looking forward to seeing how the two versions compare.
