You don’t have to pay like the pros to play like the pros. Our latest collaboration with Koss is an audiophile-approved gaming headset with Drop-exclusive upgrades you won’t find anywhere else.
In my experience with koss, that isn't true. They deliver more value per dollar then any company in audio imo. The Sennheiser's are likely better sounding and nicer quality, but considerably more expensive.
I find it really hard to believe that anyone will find the $10 discount for preorder worth the 3 month wait before these are estimated to ship.
Anyone know they're going to need an inexpensive headset in 3 months?
DongulusI have a friend out of college who needs to save every penny, but his current headset is gaming only and kind of broken (his Airpods that were included with his phone sound better, but he can only use them while not charging).
This might be perfect for him, though his budget might actually make the KSC 75 better for him.
Evshrugyour friend should get the porta pro X. 37$...great sound and has a mic which can be used for gaming. the mic is good enough for you to sound clear. the 75 are cheaper but the mic is so far down that it has a hard time picking up your voice.
Back to basics.
An entry-level gaming headset that can do what you need. We started with the Koss GMR 540-ISO as the base model which already came with some great features such as the detachable boom mic that’s easy to position and stays in place: the lightweight construction reduces fatigue over extended periods of use. The clean, understated design is something you’d like to wear outside of your home. A solid sound performance makes it enjoyable for more than just playing games.
This all makes sense given Koss’s long history of making HiFi headphones.
With the Drop + Koss GMR-54X-ISO, we really like the ability to change out the cables on this headset. It’s a feature that is normally found on higher priced models and is at the core of this product’s flexibility. The shorter TRRS cable with in-line mic, that is included, is also great for when you just want to listen to music or use the headphones on the go. Or, some might prefer to use this cable with their console controller for casual gaming.
One feature that surfaced through community feedback was the addition of an in-line volume and mute switch to the boom mic cable. We worked with Koss to come up with a simple but useful way to quickly adjust the headset volume and mute the mic. The control is positioned to rest on your chest, making it readily accessible while not getting in the way of your keyboard.
The headphone itself is pretty light, which is great when you are wearing it for 5-6 hours at a time. Additionally, after letting our coworkers spend some time with the headphones, we decided that the tension in the padded strap needed to be relaxed to accommodate a greater range of users and provide a better overall seal for the earcups.
The last piece we wanted to add was a simple adapter which combines the separate headphone and mic terminations of the dedicated gaming cable. It’s a simple part, but including it now means you can use this cable on the 3.5mm TRRS input on most console controllers, including Xbox, PS4, and the Switch.

Anyone looking for a headset able to serve multiple roles, not just with games but also something you will want to grab and take with you on your daily commute, the Drop + Koss GMR-54X-ISO is up to the task.
Both of them.
I have a big weird awkwardly shaped head. And I’ve literally spent close to 2K on headphones trying to get ones that not only sound good, but ones that fit well on my head
(for reference most head phones are to tight and press against my temples and give me a headache after a couple hours.)
I read that you posted the ear cup size. But what about the size that they can wife without putting any kind of strain on the headphones? I get that there will always be something.
i know I’m being picky but I Would love to have BIG over ear headphones that I could actually enjoy for more then a couple hours.
Then Id like to know why they haven’t shipped mine and why they haven’t responded to my email asking about shipping! I should have just bought from amazon!
KuroYarimanI can't guess why your specific order has not yet shipped, and they have not yet answered your email. I can tell you my experience this month with Drop was quite different from your experience. I emailed Drop customer service, regarding a delivery delay of the headphones, two days after the order was to be shipped from the warehouse. Drop customer service got back to me within a day and advised that the warehouse had a few days delay because of the Corona Virus situation, but that my headset would be shipped by the end of the week. It was shipped by the end of the week from the New Jersey warehouse, as she promised. In my case Drop's customer service was very polite, responsive and easy to deal with via email.
Since the headband seems to be the same, id hope it has the lifetime warranty becasue the headband is kinda known for breaking and mix that with the spaghetti wires it uses. Lifetime warranty will be important.
Has anything been done to improve the headband to prevent the usual cracking/snapping at the middle/top point?
I want to join but not if that issue hasn't been addressed here.
WildGooseChaseI'm surprised that no one asked this. This is very important. Since @GiantHeadphoneSquid said nothing has changed, looks like we should steer clear of this headphones. Yet again.
ZiggyStarHey All,
Down below, OCBob did say that the headphones were worn over a baseball cap...
If you experience a breakage issue, there is a warranty on the product!
Full disclosure: I'm a Milwaukeean and a huge Koss fan (Very proud of this great Milwaukee company). I picked up the open version of this headphone for my son a while back (Koss GMR-545-AIR-USB version). He really enjoys them for gaming, but not as much for music, and he said the mic works well. I didn't prefer them with music either, but that's not what they were designed for (I'm just spoiled by so many of my other headphones). I don't game, but I watched quite a few game capture videos and I thought the gaming sound was quite good. Better than I've heard listening to many/most of his fancy light-up headphones of which he has/ had (and often destroyed). He really pushed the headband on these to the limit with his big melon and wearing these over a ball cap and the headband eventually gave way.

Unfortunate, yes, but not a final ending like so many of the other gaming sets he or I have purchased. Ship them to Koss with a check for $9 and Koss will take care of you. I could also stop in at the factory during business hours being that it isn't that far from my home. This is a benefit that needs to be factored in when choosing to purchase any Koss product. So many Koss products come with that limited lifetime warranty (including these) and it's super easy to take advantage of (Bluetooth is a 1 year). I'll get his current pair taken care of and in a couple months we'll have a new closed version of the headphone to put to the test. I'm looking forward to seeing how the two versions compare.
Mine held up 5 months, and the headband just snapped last night. No more head pressure. I've got it taped together, hoping I can reach out to Koss for a replacement headband...
