3.3lbs for a 2 person at $250? My 3 person weighs less (although cost was about double 8 years ago)

Todd149084It's 2.4 lbs (38.8 oz = 2.42 lbs) For that weight, it's quite a spacious 2P and capable (e.g. double wall, has vents, durable zippers etc). You can get a double wall 2P tent closer to 2.0 lbs but it'll be quite a bit smaller, less durable and less capable.

dandurstonAdd in the extra 10.8 and 4.6 for the stuff sack and stake sack and it’s 3.3. Does that include the 8 stakes as well. im not dissing the tent. It looks great, but with so many sub 3lb 3 person tents, it’s not jumping out at me, although for the price point I’m guessing it will sell well.

Todd149084Those stuff sack weights are in grams, not ounces. So they add 0.04 lbs, not an entire pound. With those, the tent is 2.46 lbs. The tent comes with 8 stakes but only needs 4 to pitch (the rest are optional or spares). If we also add 4 stakes (4 x 8g) then it's another 32g / 1.1 oz. So for a full setup with the tent, stuff sacks and stakes, it's 40.5 oz or 2.52 lbs. There are lighter 2P tents that are still double walls like the MSR Carbon Reflex 2 at about 2.0 lbs, but if you closely you'll see the Carbon Reflex is tiny (e.g. 34" high inside instead of 45"), made of way less durable materials (7D vs 20D fabrics) and lacks all sorts of useful features (e.g. vents, zippers). The X-Mid is as light as you can go while still having a reasonably spacious, durable and well rounded 2P tent.
