I bought one in the November/December 2017 drop for $18.49 total, and it was $40 on Amazon at that time.
For an impulse purchase, this turned out way better than I expected. We usually keep a dish of mixed nuts out during the winter, and one batch usually lasts about a month. After getting the Drosselmeyer Nutcracker we have to restock twice as often since it's so easy to use.
Every guest who's tried it wants one.

IllPickABetterUserNameLaterDrosselmeyer's the name of one of the characters in famous Russian composer Peter I. Tchaikovsky's 1892 ballet "The Nutcracker". [Tchaikovsky: 1840-1893. His death still a mystery today: was it suicide by poison or was it cholera from recklessly drinking unboiled water (when cholera was raging in Saint Petersburg, Russia)?] Drosselmeyer is an older person in the ballet. He gives a toy -- the nutcracker, in the shape of a man -- to two children, Clara and Fritz. Clara's charmed and delighted by the nutcracker but Fritz breaks it.
