Tax laws are usually based on where the company has a physical presence, and Amazon is even required to collect tax from customers some states just for having distribution centers in the state. The bottom line, though, is you can really only blame sales tax on money-hungry politicians in your state, it's not Massdrop's fault they're required to collect tax from you.
yes it is massdrops fault. even amazon doesn't charge tax if they are selling and shipping other merchants items. I.e, when you purchase thru amazon and it says sold by XXX but fulfilled and shipped by amazon. Amazon does NOT charge you tax on that item. Its XXX responsibility for all the taxes. So why is massdrop collecting tax on the items that they post? They don't even hold anything or ship themselves. Supposedly they are not a merchant. they're a site that helps people get the best deals by bundling everyones purchases and getting a good price from the merchant. So yeah.........
