Functional but some poor anodizing and a big “MADE IN CHINA” label kills the premium feel.
You’d think for what we paid for this, it would look like a premium product. It certainly feels like one in weight, but the inside of mine looks like a knock-off that you might expect off aliexpress. There’s raw aluminum exposed in strange spots inside.
It works, but I’m kinda bummed I spent a decent amount on something that has MADE IN CHINA on the underside of the top-cap as if that was the item’s logo, unlike what the product pictures on massdrop have, which is nothing.
Excellent build quality on this product and definitely worth the price. This is my first switch cracker and i have to say that it really sped things up for me. It comes in a little case that is quite handy and the top cap can be used as a dish to hold your parts while you're modding the switch.
Great little tool for opening up MX-style switches.
This morning I did a complete spring swap of a set of 60 Cherry MX Clears and the tool was super useful!! Would totally recommend it if you mod your switches often. It's a big time saver.
This thing is way overbuilt for what it is.
It seems to open cherry switches just fine but I get more use out of just using it to fidget with. Also, people usually regret asking "what's that".
Works alright, but the fit is very tight. So far only used it on V2 zilents - the bottom housing tends to get a bit stuck in the switch opener making it difficult to remove. Disappointing that MD used images from the TYL group buy rather than the actual product that Durgod were producing as these have branding on the top, say "made in china" on the inside, and are marginally smaller than the ones in the original group by. Overall not bad, but not great. I guess the little zip bag holder is a nice touch though
These look and feel great. Got a mx in silver and a kailh in black. Haven't tried the kailh one yet, but mx one works as expected.
They are rather heavy, which is great. No need to hide them in a drawer, I think they're pretty enough to sit on my desk permanently. Kinda nice to fidget with as well.
