These are on sale at BestBuy this week for $320, which is a great price. Are they worth it? I bought one for my fiancée, who has long hair. She thinks it's the best hair dryer on the planet. Is it worth the price premium over other good hair dryers? That's a personal choice. It's quieter, faster and lighter than other hair dryers. It also has advanced temperature control to protect hair and it looks nice.

If anyone knows a hairdresser dyson has a professional discount that's quite good. Nice dryer because it dries hair faster with a higher volume of air while not needing to get as hot so not as damaging to hair, also it wont wake up the whole family.

So....supersonic is a word. Like many words, this word has meaning. Even if the use of the word can be blamed on another marketing idiot, likely, consider the source, it still falls on Ma...err...Drop to evaluate products and does seem Drop enjoys removing critical pieces of information. So which is it? This unit remains silent during operation? Or your mirror doesn't stand a chance when you hair transitions to Mach I?

SpecialEdI should buy several of these, make a Dyson jetpack. Or a leafblower that also removes the topsoil. This is beginning to look like a much better deal...

I want to make sure I understand this. This item heats up air blows it towards your hair? Like every other hairdryer? But this one is 1200% better? Well, okay then.

Not that m condoning $360 on a hairdryer but it likely won't die nearly as soon as a standard model. It has a brushless motor which for those who are not aware is faaaaarrrr superior to a standard motor. Since it has no brushes, it cannot "wear out". Also if you use one regularly the ability to set the exact temp of the heat is a game changer for most ppl as it is very easy to burn your hair. I have tried one out at a store and its pretty cool. That being said its still really only worth about $200- $250 max for the tech it uses.

Soloithz23Well, you certainly seem to know more than the previous person who commented who actually believe there are hairdryers with no moving parts that magically blow air.  Anyway, I'm not familiar with brushless motors, so I'll take your word that they "cannot wear out," which can only mean they'll last forever. I'm going assume Dyson hasn't come up with a new way to heat air, and if so they use electric resistance coils. They can and will wear out, and I'd bet they & shorts are the leading cause of death in hairdryers.  But, let's say Dyson's coils & cords also never wear out. Unlike my wife's 12 year old $25 hairdryer. Let's also say she'll live for 100 more years, and of course, like most women, no one can tell (once her hair is dry) what kind of hairdryer was used. If her dryer died today, and died every 12 years, 100 years from now she still will not have spent $300+ on hairdryers.  For me, and most people without money to waste, or wastefully spend on gimmicky novelty type items that are pretty cool, it's no where near worth $300+ to us. That's not to say there's not a practical market. I could see being practical in a hair salon, a house full of girls, or even hippies - assuming they blow dry.

My old college roommate made something like this. I suppose it'd dry your hair if you hit it hard enough. Or, you wouldn't care if your hair was wet anymore. Too bad, I thought Chuck had made something of himself. On a serious note, I'd get this for my wife, but she abuses hair dryers like they owe her money. I don't suppose a $349 hair dryer will take repeated drops onto tile any better than an $80 unit.
