Chris from Redco Audio here. We now have all the correct parts to make high quality replacement cables for the Teak headphones. initially we had a 2.5mm plug that wouldn't plug in far enough past the earcup. This has now been resolved as we have found the correct 2.5mm with a collar allowing the connector to get in far enough for a full connection.
I will be posting a link to this cable on our website soon with the ability to choose a length if you wish to order these. We use Gotham Audio dual shielded OFC cable for the assembly for transparent high quality audio signals.
Feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or needs.
Will this new 2.5mm plug be available for purchase by itself?
I will have it online later today and will post the link here.
Oh man I just had some redco cables delivered in anticipation of my emu teak shipment. And they won't even fit? Boo-urns.
I believe you were one of the first batch of these cable we made before EMU made us aware of needed in different 2.5mm for their recessed jacks in the earcups. We have since found the right connector to make this work. Please send the cable back to my attention and we will correct this and ship right back to you. Apologies on the inconvenience.
That sounds great, Chris. What's the shipping address and info? From my receipt I have:
Invoice #: 178929
RedCo Audio Inc.
1701 Stratford Ave,
Stratford, CT 06615
One other thing, I wasn't sure if the L & R had to be wired differently or the same, so I can't help inform the wiring schematic. As in, R=T and L=S or R & L = T. The cables I received was the former, not the latter. Thank you!
Yes, correct address. I'll confirm the wiring once we have the cable back, it should have been wired properly regardless of the connector issue but I'll make sure.
Yeah, tbh, there was confusion about the wiring here or at head-fi, but maybe it's just me that's confused. Haha. Either way, I'll send out the cables. Thanks again!!
The "official" replacement cable looks nice. Btw, I put the ones I ordered back in the mail. I'll be satisfied with whatever you can do to get them compatible with the E-MUs. Let me know if there's anything else. Many thanks!
Well, it seems the 2.5mm connector we found to work on these isn't snapping in solidly. Apologies, as we don't have a pair of Teak to test these with, but the correct connectors seem harder to track down than expected. E-MU has not been forthright with allowing us to purchase the correct connectors directly so we are left to fend for ourselves. If anyone has the official cable that are supplied with the headphones and can contact me at email@example.com I'd like to ask you to give me a few measurements so I can confirm where the difference lies between theirs and ours.
This cable looks like the HD650 connector. Is the link wrong? Do you sell shorter cables like 1.2 m?
