Awesome cans and much better with new cable... highly recommend. Personal preference, but I do like these better than my Fostex th-x00.

RamseyRamsgateI agree. I also prefer these over the Fostex. I have some cheap chinese replacement cables that are on the short side and both work fine. I'm curious if the Venture electronics cable with balance XLR would work with these? They are known to have compatibility issues with some cables.

RamseyRamsgatelol I think I'm the ONLY person that prefer TH-X00 over these. I bought my E-Mu first then later on purchased TH-X00.
I guess music taste really is preference.

HydeWhat genre of music do you enjoy? Like many of us here I switch headphones to the music I'm listening to. My teaks are for funky vocals and instrumentals, vmoda for bass heavy edm, k7xx for female vocals or anything where I want that soundstage ie. Live jazz recordings. I certainly came into headphones not realizing one can does not do all things perfectly, but feel no need to expand my collection currently.

LMAONAISELol yeah I'm too lazy to swap between headphones but you are correct that certain headphones are better at certain things. I mostly listen to female vocal acoustic and rock, and some pop songs. So I guess between E-Mu Teak and TH-X00 the female vocal is a bit more forward on the TH-X00.
There are some minor difference on string instruments, snare and kick drums I can't fully explain but I think I like TH-X00 a tinyyyyy bit more on that too.
Some people find the difference very minor but if you listen back and forth I think there is a solid 10-15% difference or so.
