It's all over, type in google "reddit Teak vs X00" or look through these comments if you're not sure which to get. Pretty much do you want removable cables? If you break your cables or have before you should try the Teaks; Teaks have removable cable. X00 does not have removable cables. Also for the Teak you can purchase extra cups from Chan to change the sound signature. But the TEAK option is only available if you buy the headphones with them. You can't buy the teak cups from Chan without the headphones as well.

I wrote mini guide a while back in the massdrop thread. Read through that thread and it should give you a good idea.
Short answer is Teak is more neutral and TH-X00 is more punchy and fun. They're probably within 15% difference. Most seems to favour Teak, for my music genre TH-X00 do a bit better.

I have both E-mu Teaks and th-x00 Ebony. Each sound different - Teaks, while they have bass are more balanced. Build is also a bit different, the E-mu Teak feeling lighter and dare I say a little “cheaper” than the th-x00 Ebony. The Ebony version are gorgeous looking and stock sound like bass cannons. To me too much bass, as, well, it might come as a surprise to some, but there are sounds to listen to above 300 Hz... i know, heresy...
Keep in mind the th-x00 do come in other wood versions - PH most bassy, and Ebony more neutral (but still bass cannons, so just relative...). There are more, but I am not familiar with them, but they fall in between these I believe.
so i have both th-x00 Ebony and E-mu Teak. The Ebony have been modded with a Lawton driver only mod, and have the Mrspeakers Alpha Pads. Much more neutral sounding, and super comfy (stock pads on the th-x00 were invented during a particularly cruel period of the otherwise delightful by comparison Inquisition...).
i will likely keep both as they sound and look different enough especially after the th-x00 mods.
if you only can afford one it depends on your musical tastes... if you believe it’s all about the bass, go for a th-x00 variant (PH, if you are REALLY bass-head hardcore), otherwise go for the E-mu Teak...

Funny enough I find build quality wise I actually like E-Mu Teak a little bit better (I also have TH-X00 Mahogany). I also find the Lawton driver only mod while it improves separation, also increase treble and bass a little bit.
But everything else I agree also something we forgot to mention, in stock form E-Mu Teak has a little bit bigger soundstage than TH-X00.

I agree - both the pad change and the Lawton driver mod probably contributes to flattening the FR making them more neutral than the stock Ebony. Maybe took a bit too much of the bass away from the th-x00 - the E-mu Teaks now have more bass than the modified th-x00 Ebony.
I really like the sound of the E-mu Teaks. Will be enjoying these for a long time.
