It has 2 compartments for clean and soiled laundry, and does not take up much space in the luggage. In face, it saves space by compacting clothing in the luggage.
The cube is super lightweight and the zippers flex to hold quite a few items. The barrier between the compartments is great! This a great piece of gear to take backpacking when you need to keep your dirty stinky stuff separate from your clean stuff. The material seems strong and the zippers were also sturdy. I haven't seen the white and black color combo anywhere other than massdrop. The price is better than Amazon as well. I highly recommend!
I have a bunch of other Eagle Creek's Pack-It Specter Tech cubes for my luggage, and had been planning on grabbing one of these after a lengthy recent trip where it would have been really handy. So thanks for saving me a few bucks, Drop. 🙂
If you've seen any of the other Specter cubes, this won't look very strange to you: very light but durable material, double zippers with handy paracord pulls, and handles so you don't have to toss it around like a football. Plenty of extra material on the internal separator, so even if you overstuff the cube, the separator should accommodate the changes in shape and distribution.Keeps things separated, no bells, no whistles.
Be aware that the material will feel very thin; it's an intentional feature of the Specter cubes, and it keeps the weight down (and as long as you keep your sharps away from it, the internal reinforcement will be more than enough to keep the insides on the inside). If you regularly juggle knives around your luggage, or want something that feels like a more traditional packing cube with thicker walls and beefy seams, you probably want their "Original" lineup of cubes.
Also, and this is probably more important: this is not a compression cube. Again, look for something with the word "compression" in the name if that's what you need. 😉
(I feel weird writing a lengthy review about what is essentially a cheap cube for stuffing laundry into, but hey, maybe someone will find it helpful.)
I haven't actually used this yet, so I going on first impressions here.
Pros:
Very lightweight
Double zippers on both sides
Paracord pulls on the zippers
Grab handles on the top and bottom
Water resistant fabric looks like it should handle damp clothes well
The only thing I can see as possible problem is, the zippers are very fine, so they _may_ be susceptible to problems if you overfill the Pack-It.
I am looking forward to using this.
