What is this? Am I stupid? I read like the first few sentences of the description and looked at the pictures. It’s annoyingly me to think I’m that stupid and I really hope they’re just that bad at advertising their own product...

Didn’t realize that this drop had the Structured cube. Wish I saw that. The advantage of the structured cube is the extra board they have in it, so when it compresses it compresses a bit more evenly instead of turning into a football like most compression cubes. Hope this drops again.

All this needs is a picture of the inside... considering these are packing cubes I would like to know what I'm working with. Seems like an obvious omission.

Generally a fan of packing cubes, though not necessarily Eagle Creek's prices. This drop actually saves about $15 off their typical retail price. That puts this set in the range of EC's more generic competition--from eBags, for instance. One thing to consider is that multi-pack pricing generally gives you a S-M & L assortment. I've found that sometimes it's better to buy separates so I can pack two mediums and a large, or two larges and two smalls, etc.. Either way, the idea is not to have to unpack them at your destination, but just to "live" out of them instead. Makes repacking for the homeward leg much quicker.

Totally agree with this on unpacking them from your luggage rather than taking the clothes out of them into drawers or where you are keeping them when you arrive at your destination. I have Osprey and eBags packing cubes and for the travel I do, I prefer the eBags ones because they open all the way and I can just place the whole cube in a drawer and unzip them all the way. The Osprey ones are not configured the same way and you need to unpack everything from them to get to the item at the bottom. Those are probably better for backpacking. Also agree with you that the multi-sized sets are probably not as good as buying separately as I like certain sizes better than others. This might be a good way to figure out which size suits your needs though.

Agreed! And it's worth mentioning there are sizes that will accommodate an extra pair of shoes or slippers too--very handy; keeps everything clean and neat. BTW, I'm an eBags man myself ;- )

Obviously, they do, but like other drops where I have pointed this out. They should enable us to join drops, not make us do the legwork.

You're familiar of course with that popular cliche definition of insanity, right? Expecting MD to package a drop such that it actually allows one to make an informed purchase decision is simply not in their DNA. And if pointing that out to them in comments was going to fix the problem, it would have been fixed about three-million member complaints ago. But don't let me rain on your parade--I'm a big fan of Rage Against The Machine ;-)
