In the last drop I received a cable that looks nothing like HI-RES 4C, it is the grey one from the basic version (image below). Doesn't take much to understand what happened here, unless you are from Drop support. To people considering this, you may receive similar unit - Pro, and there is no-one to talk to here...
Update: I was offered a decent refund, approximately the price of cable. That likely means that I will not be getting the cable since the shipping price from official store is ridiculously high. This cable is fine, I like the sound anyway, also I don't know whether cable would affect it anyway. What I am really annoyed about is the fact that at no point Drop admitted the mistake was made - plausible deniability at it's finest. I investigated few hours and all points towards the fact that this is basic cable (Also, just look at it, there are no four cores, everything is plastic and a slider looks like an infusion tube cut in parts). Also, I sent Earsonics the question on the cable and got no reply so far.
Update: Got a confirmation the cable is from Classic version from Earsonics themselves, and few days later was issued a refund for the cable (I assume they are not in a position to offer replacement parts).
As for the HI-RES-4C cable, it costs approximately 100€ in the Earsonics store, but shipping adds another 50€, so I am considering traveling to France, since I saw flights for 80€. As I mentioned before, the set does sound amazing with present cable as well, I don't know how much changing it will add, if at all...
I own a pair of the Purple and they are one of my favorite earphones in my collection. I have owned a few pair of Earsonics over the years (Velvet V1 & V2, S-EM6, and a knockaround pair of SM-2 I got for cheap.) The Purple has the best treble of any Earsonics set I have owned - They have a house sound and some sets can seem a bit dark - but not the Purple - clean, punchy, accurate and enjoyable. They are a nice small housing and should fit most ears. No hard corners - I can listen for hours without issues. I did replace the cable with a Linsoul EST SPC and the balanced cable really brings out the details. This is actually a good price for this set. I have left it on the middle setting as I think it is the best combination of bass and treble - but all three sound excellent - and different.
I have the SM64 and absolutely love the sound signature. They are my favorite headphones including over and in-ears. The one issue I've always had with them is they're not particularly comfortable for my smaller ears. I typically can't wear them for more than an hour before I need to take a break.
My question is, how does the comfort and sound signature of the Purple compare to the SM64?
