Hi, guys, this is Eric from the EcoReco team. Thanks for all your interests about the scooter and we sincerely appreciate all your supports. While we understand everyone is trying to rally more people to join the drop, please do not mention/post about the mass-drop nor the price on our official EcoReco social media fan pages (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Pinterest, and etc). Our B&M dealers also follow our social media and they don't like this kind of advertisement about discount on an open platform. If we received another complaint from our retail partners, we will have no choice but to pull the plug of the MassDrop campaign. It's not good for everyone. Feel free to promote and share on your own channels though. Thanks for understanding. Cheers.

EcoRecoScooterSo you are letting brick and mortar stores bully your company into not allowing 15 folks to get a meager deal. Good to know...

icehero919Hi, Icehero, we are happy to continue to provide great deals here. However, I hope you agree that going to our official social media channels to brag about the discount would only destroy the MRSP, hurt our business, and hinder our ability to serve more customers in the future... If anyone would like to support the product and the company, it's better not to do that. It's not bullying from retailers, it's known as the MAP (minimum advertised price) policy. MassDrop is a membership-based community for group buy (price not searchable on web unless active joined/inquired). but our social media channels are open platforms to provide the official pricing. Hope you can understand and thanks for your feedbacks.

EcoRecoScooterI understand minimum advertised price, but I must respectfully disagree on your other points. First, we aren't "bragging" as you say. We are simply informing those who may not know that there is a deal going on. This is not saying "this is so much better and those other stores suck" that is bragging. In fact brick and mortar have the advantage of test riding and friendlier and more personal customer service. In would in no way brag that one retailer is better than the other. But you must understand that products such as this are priced in a way that puts people on the fence. When I see that price tag I say "I need to catch a deal if I'm ever going to get it." And a lot of people would agree with me on that. Therefore, you are going to lose business from these people who would otherwise not be able to afford it. Which leads me to my second disagreement. You are hurting your sales by not allowing people to share on social media. Individuals who are in the dark about a current deal will miss out and you lost those sales.
When I first found this product I was late to the game. There was no way I would buy it for MSRP and when I found this site it was at a time when the drop was closed. What if I never checked this site again? I wouldn't know that it had reopened and you would have lost my sale.
Coming back around, again i realize the whole issue about minimum advertised price. But if we're not stating the actual price we aren't advertising underneath the price. You still have to register at massdrop to see said price and we are just letting people know that there could be a good deal.
I think you are losing business by hindering us from letting the uninformed know. However because I want to see this deal succeed i must respect your wishes and not post on social media.

icehero919Hi, Icehero, I understand where you come from and the point to let the un-informed know. Please understand that we are not discouraging or banning anyone from using social media to promote our product or this MassDrop deal. Quite the opposite, we want you and other MassDroppers to share on your social networks (on- and off-lines).
Our humble request is, please do not share it on our EcoReco's (or our dealers) OFFICIAL social media pages or websites.
People invest money to build a fan base with their fan pages/websites, just like a retail store pays rent and overheads to keep the shop running. It's unfair if they attract potential customers there but can't close deals over there because a link on their own site/page guides the traffic out purely based on price alone. It's much easier for a customer to switch online when other purchase alternatives are just few mouse clicks away. The last thing we want is to create a price war between different channels.
The real equivalent is to hold a sign in a retail store to guide customers to another location with a slight discount. No retail shop would accept that. However, if any guys want to hold a sign on the street, at home or office, the retail store would not have any rights to disagree with it.
In fact, we are happy to work with you if you also believe in the product and would like to be part of the affiliate program to promote the scooters. It's a green, energy efficient, and practical EV that more people should know about. However, anyone visiting EcoReco/our dealers' websites/social outlets is already part of the informed, so posting the MassDrop deal on those sites does not make more un-informed know about us...
I apologize that the word "brag" was not precise and might stimulate bad taste.
