HAKKO FX-888D would seem like a better choice.

C'mon, Massdrop. Give us an FX-951 at a decent price (or better yet, an FM-203)...not this crap.

No thanks. Low budge, IMHO. And whats with the 220v not being mentioned IN THE TITLE?
Love the knives and a handful of other bits that come up, Massdrop. But can we get some PROPER soldering station drops, like JBC, Thermaltronics, Metcal, or higher end Hakko?

How does this hunk of metal and copper compare to those blue and yellow colors of a hakko fx888d?

DeadstormHonestly, I don't think much can stand up to Hakko.

mikeflowyeah thats seems reasonable with all the love everyone gives it.....i just don't see how massdrop will sell something that is almost at the same price as a hakko and uses 220v and provides free shipping within the US when most of the order for this should be coming outside the US were 220v is being used...but thats just my thinking.

To be clear, this is a 220v item and won't work on US 120v sockets?

gigaflopMore clarity is needed around this point. The description seems to indicate as you say that it's 220v 50Hz input only, but surely massdrop wouldn't sell a 220v only item without a big clear warning for all their US based customers?

Wait...Me or Elecrow?
This is not doing hot air like the USUAL ‘2 in 1‘ station. So I’m fairly certain that elecrow is marketing it as a 2 in 1 station: handpiece and power supply.
fwiw, I’ve got 2 separate hand pieces and god knows how many different tips for my hakko 951. The 951 came with a hand piece and the power unit, but no tips. Hand to get a 60 dollar 3 pack to syart using my 400 dollar station...fml. I’ve got a couple smt desoldering tips that were nearly 100 each. Fml again! These things have a limited lifespan, too.
Soldering equipment can get ridiculously expensive really quickly.
