> But saying they don't have camera? I had some fodder in the cannon to make some serious noise but I will restrain myself just because I am actually too damn new to this whole keycap thing. But l will just say this, WRONG TURN comes to mind if they don't have a camera.
Do you realize that I'm a mere designer from Brazil, with absolutely no control over Signature Plastics' policies as a company? I can't do literally anything about whether or not they want to invest their money on a camera. I simply picked colors, icons and materials for this project.
If you, like many others, are still complaining about the thickness of the plastic just skip the buy. It's that simple. For me, and many others, that's not an issue. Thickness of keycaps are a stupid myth widespread around forums. Many people never touched a PBT keycap and follow this "advice" regarding thickness blindly.
To me there's no difference at all when it comes to PBT thickness (and I used many sets on PBT). I care about durability and confort and that's what I'm providing here. If the keycap looks and feels good, why would I care about it's thickness?
Well, one can say that because of the price the keycaps should be thicker and have more material plastic in their structure. I agree with this, but I can't force the manufacturer to add more plastic to molds because I have no power over their manufacturing capabilities.

MiToMiTo: In my experience, thickness is definitely a factor - or at least, it makes as big a difference as the material used. Which is to say, significant but subtle. While the material may change the surface your finger encounters, both plastics are similar enough that it's largely the amount of material that changes the actuation feel and the sound produced. None of this, though, is hugely important. I haven't used SP's PBT DCS, but I'm sure they're fine - the biggest upgrade is just in replacing very thin, pad-printed OEM caps.
Please try not to have knee-jerk responses. You have a bad history of getting ...let's call it "weirdly defensive" about your designs. People obviously enjoy the work you put out. Let's everyone have a polite and helpful dialogue.

shkeysI understand and I know why people like thick plastic and accept it but I disagree and don't care about thickness at all. I never said that there's no difference.
What I said is that me, personally, and many others don't care.
I've been polite to everyone since this thread was created, please don't start stupid drama. This is the last time that I answer to drama related replies.
Thank you so much for the thoughtful response about your experience. I appreciate it, a lot. Perhaps one day I will have the opportunity to make a PBT keyset with thick plastic!

MiToYes because you really need a top notch camera and a whole Photoshop department to provide a picture of a keycap underside being measured with a ruler, it is definitely very dificult and expensive and convenient. Before you start to get defensive about this, and by the looks of your response, you already are, you stated that the keycaps where not thin, so a picture of production sample was asked by the community, it is that simple, before you get technical about how people percieve keycap thickness and how it affects their typing experience, this was just what was asked, a picture of the keycaps.
So SP policies are strange to the point of not letting them provide any product info trough photos....also somehow you being just a mere designer from brasil contributes to this argument...
You cannot definitely just ask someone to trust you onto buying something, if a costumer wants details about any product, it is out of interest, and off course people will back out if the vendor says: buy this, have faith it will be good. The fact that you try and constantly do this is because you know the product is sub par and you don't know how to sell it other than "have faith, trust me or don't buy".
I will skip the buy, I do not have faith in you :p
You cannot force them into using more plastic, but the question here is price vs quality and for as good as these might turn out they are just not worth the price, and as you may have seen many other manufacturers are coming up with better offers, i hope this continues, as the profit margin for SP is to high and not enough is being put back into the keycap manufacturing abilities of the company. Sorry if you won't get my support as buyer, for both poor word choice and poor price vs quality on such a good design. And i hope this concerns you, as you will keep losing supporters with this type of behavior.

lolpesYou don't seem to understand that I don't have photos. The manufacturer didn't provide any actual photos of DCS PBT keycaps, is this hard to understand? Complain with them, not to me because I'm simply the designer. I never get "defensive" stop with this bullshit, you and the others mentioning. I'm simply explaining the facts here.
I never said that I (or anyone else) had pictures. All I said is that I trust my partners and the company we are working with.
Melissa simply said she didn't have pictures and couldn't provide. If you are worried about their business, you shouldn't because making custom keysets is not their priority. They are a small company on a rural area that happen to make keysets because they have machines. How high are their ambitions and where they wanna go? I don't know, and it's none of my business.
If you don't trust my reputation, it's not my loss. You are the one missing on an incredible keyset. Another aspect to consider is that making keysets is just a hobby for me. I don't have "customers" I have friends. I do this for the community, not for money; because this is not a job. This is a hobby.
I hope this hits MOQ because like I said on Reddit the whole revenue of this project (if there will be any) will go to a rainforest in southeast Brazil. I already have the area to populate with several species of brazilian native trees. I want to turn a nature inspired keyset into an actual natural forest.
Farewell and until Godspeed!

MiToSP linkedin page "Signature Plastics LLC is a plastic injection molding company specializing in insert molding key caps for computer keyboards, POS and data entry devices"
They are a small company yes, but they don't just happen to make keysets, it is their core business.
Again you just changed an argument and turned into something you could feel offended by, I did not ever state that you where in possession of the pictures. I just said you where comfortable not going trough the effort of getting them which would be almost none since someone has already provided said pictures.
The fact that you have to use words like bullshit just reinforce the argument that you have poor word choice and extremely exaggerated defensive behaviour, but yeah I guess I should not say that anymore since it is clearly affecting you.
If people who try and reason with you are just shoved back for not following your opinion then good luck with your many friends ;)
Try asking for a higher quote of SP's profit on this, since they can help with your project ;)
Bye, cya when Classic Space hits :)
