I ordered the large baker and it arrived in pieces. There was a thick layer of bubble wrap around it and the box was undamaged, so obviously Massdrop needs to re-evaluate the packaging for these. Customer support can't do anything but give me a refund once I ship the box back. At least they're covering the shipping cost. Bummer, I had great plans for this dish.

cleverhandleSorry to hear that. I wonder why @mikeflan below was able to have a replacement shipped out but you were only able to get a refund. Are you in the US or elsewhere?
Maybe they ran out of spare stock, with all the reports of these arriving smashed that sounds like a real possibility!

JaggiI can't speak to @cleverhandle 's experience but yes--the rep I spoke with said they had limited stock. Also, it was the medium dish for me, not the large. And I haven't actually gotten a shipping confirmation code yet--we'll see!

Mine arrived shattered within its packaging.. Is there any option for return/replacement?

Really? They told me there are no additional units to be sent and offered a refund instead.

DanjuDepends on color and size, right? Mine was smaller size in blue.

" made from ceramic "
I assume like most all Emile Henry stuff I've seen it's some sort of stoneware? I've got a smaller gratin/baking dish of theirs which I really like, but I usually avoid stoneware in favour of porcelain (or bone china if it's something that doesn't go in the oven).
Well made porcelain is considerably more resistant to chipping and cracking.

JaggiA very relevant question since the word "ceramic" is also used for materials like Aluminium Oxide and Silicon Carbide.

JaggiI'd describe it as glazed stoneware. Mine arrived smashed to pieces, so I got a close look at the interior. :(
