I’m not a huge fan of the scent on the standard issue paste but it’s light enough not to be overpowering or unpleasant. Many times people describe things as chemical smelling and I often disagree. With this, however, I can agree the scent is sort of chemical like. Again, it’s pretty light and once you put a small amount in your hair you can’t detect this scent. It’s just the jar of it all isn’t too enticing to smell.
What really sold me is the quality of the paste itself. I’ve tried lots of different pastes; the hold and ease of styling is great . Easy to wash off my hands after styling and out of my hair at the end of the day. Overall, very pleased with the product but I do wish they would offer a different scent on the paste at the very least.

Bought two of those Standard Issue and i regret it after i tried to use it for just more then a month. The smell is terrible smells like something from a factory, some sort of chemical... No matter what amount of it i'll use on my hair it just doesn't matter, styling is very difficult and it won't wash out from your hand or your head... Adding water won't do anything it really repels water and will clump together however the hold is very good so good you'll have problems styling your hair... Won't be buying it again i'll just stick back too blind barber hair pomade

Albert.AHi Albert, Sorry you don't like the scent. We try to make it clear- Tonka and Citrus. Tonka is a rich, nutty, almost vanilla scent, that we pair with Blood Orange. Both are pure, 100% cold pressed essential oil, we find it to be very much like a Creamcicle. As far as the factory idea... in short, we dont really know what that means (?) Our products are all handmade right here in Brooklyn NY. The problems youve had sound really frustrating, and we are sorry your experience has been like that. Your idea of "no matter what amount I use.." How much are you using? A small amount to start, say one healthy fingertips worth, is what we recomend! The issue of the product being tacky or too strong of a hold is the goal with a paste, sorry if that wasnt clear. Please reach out to me directly if you'd like at zachary@empireapothecary.com Our friends at Blind Barber make a great gel, and if the nature of our all natural product made of real beeswax is too tacky, then maybe youre just a gel guy!

LoqueHi! Most GG is petro based, our Traditional is similar, but petro-free and made with wax and oil, so it's got the shine, but a touch more movable hair overall. With the Standard Issue Paste its a bit more creamy, and a bit tacky, like a hybrid cream-paste-pomade! Can somebody comment on the consistency of the paste? I have used the pomade and the clay before and I preferred the pomade as it was a lot softer and easier to work with. Is the more similar in consistency to the pomade or the clay?

TangfjThe Standard Issue Paste is much softer than both the Pomade and Hair Clay, as it is a water-based formula instead of a wax base. Hope this helps :)

The vendor informed us that the group's order was picked up and is on its way to our warehouse in New Jersey. Based on the tracking provided, the order is scheduled to arrive on 10/5.

Awaiting confirmation! We are still in contact with the vendor and just awaiting updated shipment estimates from them. We have a call scheduled first thing tomorrow morning and should get a bit more visibility in regards to when we can expect these in our warehouse.

We've been in touch with the vendor regarding the group's order and they've let us know that they are still working to gather and pack the group's order for shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey. We will continue to check in with them throughout the fulfillment process and update the group again as soon as everything is en route to us!

Thanks again for joining this drop! We have submitted the group's order with the vendor for the Empire Apothecary Standard Issue Hair Product and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.
As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey where our warehouse team will break it up into individual orders and ship them. The current estimated ship date from our warehouse is 10/3.

Empire Apothecary Standard Issue is an awesome product.. I had to play around with it to find the right amount for my type of hair. Once I figured it out, styling was a breeze. During the hot days in NYC I never had to wipe some sticky artificial goo off of my forehead. It held very well, lasted all day and was still pliable at 6pm (after a day of work in finance). Also it washes out really well since its all natural. Besides its performance, the product works without the synthetic bullshit found in most big name big box "pomades".. They are a small well crafted company focusing on quality and health. If you care about what i put in your body, you should also care about what you put on your body.
